It’s a long story how this happened and is all due to my new hero, Terry, who single-handedly herded the Emerys through the fence back into our paddock.
The reunion was wonderful… when I said ‘Emerys!’ they looked at me expectantly and let me hug them briefly before they drew away. It was then that I realized that my communication with them suffers a certain amount of semantic confusion; ie. they think ‘Emerys’ means ‘Cabbage’. It’s all sorted out now.
Yippee!!!
Thank you so much, Terry!

Hooray! That’s fabulous news!
Oh, Tilly, I am so happy and relieved! Thank you!
Hooray! Very happy for all of you! 🙂
Thanks – yeeha!!!
Julie,
That’s a variety of emus I haven’t seen around here. What are they? Funny story…well, not really funny but…Rick and I bought two emu eggs costing us $1000.00 about 20 years ago from this guy who said emus were the next best and greatest thing on the market. He took our money and skipped town. Never got an egg. That was our closest venture into raising emus. Oh well. I guess it was a good thing since the emu business didn’t take off too well in this corner of Texas.
Hope you and the family are enjoying each other.
Debbie
Yeah, the emu business didn’t take off here either. Poor you getting ripped off by that conman! I don’t know what kind of emus – they’re just emus but they’re only around a year old so their appearance will change as they grow.
Great news. Get more supplies of cabbage.
Definitely!
Yay!!!
Hi,
OMG, that is just fantastic, I am so happy for you. 😀
I’m happy for me too – thanks!
Did you bake Terry a cake? !!! This is wonderful news, and I am so happy for you!
LOL! And I have to imagine that the Son was quite relieved not to have to go Emery wrangling yet another time! ~ Lynda
I am going to find out what Terry’s favourite food is. Sorry but I’m not much of a cake baker!
YAY!!!
Double YAY!!!
Woohoo! Welcome home, emus!
Yes, but I gave them a very stern lecture yesterday!
Fantastic news, Julie.
It certainly is – thanks Vicki!
Aw, I never knew anyone had emus as pets! Neato! Didn’t know they left, but glad they are back! Margie
It’s not common to have them as pets but what the hell!
Hooray!! They are home!! I have to tell you I just never gave up the faith. I’m so happy for you~ And the Emery’s…ahem.. I mean cabbage.
Well, I am beginning to think you have magical powers because you always had faith they would come back whereas I lost hope – thank you sooooooo much!
Yay! That’s fantastic!
Yes – what a strange ordeal!
I read about your birds they are beautiful. I really like your trees too. Too bad your husband is not well. I would love hearing more stories about your birds. ty
Thanks very much, Darlene!
