A few posts ago I mentioned there were more wild birds here than ever before. Apart from the fact that there is birdseed and wheat grain everywhere, I think this is mainly to do with the fact that birds attract birds! Two of our white peacocks made friends with some of them.
Here are some pictures to prove that, yes, we now have at least two (maybe six) pink and grey galahs. For those of you who are either birders or photographers, I can’t lay claim to either of these titles yet. In other words, the photos of the beautiful birds are really crappy! You will need your binoculars for the second one!

Hi,
Oh yes they are definitely looking very comfortable at your place, maybe they will call it home. 😀
I really hope so!
You’ve got a little corner of paradise there!
I certainly do and am grateful for it every day!
You have a few exotic birds in your garden. I have Blue tits, Chaffinches, Blackbirds, Great tits etc coming to my garden but nothing exotic.
We bought the exotic ones (peacocks etc.) but the galahs are wild and I adore them – hope more will come along. We don’t have chaffinches but I wish we did over here!
I love the word ‘galah’, you know – especially when you call someone a galah 🙂
Your yard looks so wonderful to be in, sitting in the sun, with a coffee, looking at galahs…
Or a beer!
I suppose if they see other birds, they know it’s safe.
Who knows!
Very interesting, not something we would have around here!
You never know!
I find that birds are way more prolific where there are no herbicides and pesticides.
No pesticides here I hope!
I don’t see how there can be with so many birds…
Gorgeous!
Thanks!
Lovely. You should start counting how many wild birds you are hosting, that should be fun.
Great idea!
Julie, are these in the parrot family? Or are they something entirely different? ~ Lynda
Cockatoo family which I think is the same as parrot? Oh dear, I really should know shouldn’t I!
I think birds attract birds. I started out with sparrows, then the pigeons came, then two species I can’t identify, then a few Blue Jays and a Red Cardinal showed up. They know there is food here and they talk! 🙂
You’re so lucky to be in Australia!!
Yes and I’m still waiting for you to visit!
We’re on our way, let me just find a mule first 😉
Can’t you just fly over on your birds’ wings?
If I can get boo boo to wear the harness I bought then I may be able to rig something up LOL
I’ll keep an eye out for you guys!
I learn so much from your blog. I’ve never even heard of galahs!
Yes, they are actually cockatoos so I’m not sure where the term ‘galah’ came from and I’m too lazy to look it up!
I’d should talk to you here. Which is not one thing I do!
I like reading a post which can make men and women believe.
Also, thank you enabling me to comment!
