Daffy and Dotty are our two Indian runner ducks. They are inseparable and, for some reason, the other birds ostracize them – like a strange avianish racism. They can’t fly, but they can run (hence the name of this particular breed I guess) and they run exactly like Basil in Fawlty Towers. They only use the pond after the rest of the gang of geese and ducks are finished ‘bathing’ because they’re so timid.
The absolutely adore each other.

Indian runner ducks are my all time favourite ducks!!!
Aren’t they cute.
Did you get your HPA in return for my OLBA?
Yes but so timid!
How absolutely adorable they are. The mother duck in me wants to come over and hug em, though don’t think they’d much like that. Such a vulnerability about them.
Yes they are really shy!
They look so tall & elegant. I’ve never seen Indian runner ducks before.
They don’t walk elegantly!!
it is always good to have a friend
They are so sweet. You should get more because there’s safety in numbers.
Wanted to get more and did have two more but the fox got them.
Lovely.
Ha! A duck romance!
I’ve never heard of such – interesting that they run. Are they capable of any flight at all? Our roadrunners prefer to run and are quite speedy, but they will make short, shallow flights up into the trees when necessary.
They can’t fly at all and yes they run. Road runners? Wow – I thought they were cartoon characters – ha!
I’m so glad they have each other (if the rest of the ducks shun them).
even the most shy find a friend!
That’s actually very profound!
I’m so glad they have each other!
They are too. It’s odd how disliked they are by the others!
Lovely and sad/sweet.
I don’t know why the rest of the gang don’t like them!
Very nice to meet these ducks! I have not seen Indian runner ducks before.
They are hilarious!
I think they need their own little pond!
I’m working on it.
So cute!
