from some people i have taken notice of, these grand animals do a better job of grooming. lol

  3. What a relief – we thought that Godfrey was misnamed!

Those geese are just gorgeous Julie. I live the white Mute Swan too.. The Sebastapol feathers look very soft & fluffy?

  6. Just look at that fellow in front with his head back! Wonderful shots of these guys. Watch out, somebody will see that fab down! 🙂

The whole place is covered in shed feathers – I could probably make a fortune if I weren’t too lazy to pick them up!

      • Use a commercial vacuum or something like that. The professional down collectors must use something. Ha Ha. I can just see you dragging a long sack (like old time cotton pickers) around the place picking feathers and down out of the grass and leaves and stuff! 🙂 You might make ten cents a day doing it too!

      • jmgoyder says:

That is a great idea – the vacuum thing! Thanks.

Goodness, I’d like a pillow like that or them!!!

    • jmgoyder says:

      Aren’t those sebastopols amazing!

      • 2me4art says:

When they sleep, you sneak up and lay on them? Would they mind? What if you bought a treat? TOO soft.

      • jmgoyder says:

Actually when I pat them those soft looking feathers aren’t as soft as they look – they’re kind of fibrous – ha!

      • 2me4art says:

Do they molt? All at once? Are there feather’s everywhere?

      • jmgoyder says:

Sometimes it looks like the lawn is covered in snow!

      • 2me4art says:

That would make a great photograph!

      • jmgoyder says:

It’s too cold now – in summer their feathers are everywhere.
Sorry not to be keeping up with your blog – apart from WP notication problems, my life is getting in the way – hehe!

      • 2me4art says:

I know why, I read your blog about your being too busy, So I am truly honored that you keep in touch with me. Can you send me big feathers in the spring if I send you a check for mailing the package to me? I am an art teacher & I can dye them for art projects!

      • jmgoyder says:

Of course I will send them to you – what a wonderful idea! Do you want peacock feathers too? Oh this is exciting!
Gotta go to bed now but let’s keep in touch!

      • 2me4art says:

OMG you would give me peacock feathers???? YES, tell me how much. I would put those in a vase , take a picture & post it, but wouldn’t tell anyone where I got them. Oh, this is exciting. Good night!!!

      • jmgoyder says:

I wonder if it is legal to post peacock feathers – we need to find out!

      • 2me4art says:

I never thought of that. I told my kids & they freaked out. Henry said,”can I have one for my room?” I will try to find out on my end. Gosh, you are one smart woman!!

      • jmgoyder says:

Let me know if you find out any rules against such a thing and I will do same!

      • 2me4art says:

If I write you an american check, will your bank figure out the exchange?

      • jmgoyder says:

Oh you are not going to pay me anything – we just have to check it is legal!!!

      • 2me4art says:

Do you want some husky fur for the exchange? Blue is starting to blow his coat, so our house look like it snowed inside. its beautiful & white you could spin it & knit yourself a scarf. 🙂

      • jmgoyder says:

        No thanks – hahahahah!

      • jmgoyder says:

I have googled peacock feathers to see if it’s okay to post them overseas but haven’t found much useful info. Heaps of sites selling them. Maybe I should just wrap a few up and post to you in a padded envelope and hope for the best? Should I cut them so they are short (I have a huge vase full but they are very long and it might look like I am posting a rifle or something). Any suggestions? I am serious – would love to give you a few!
Oh yeah – what is your address or have I already asked you that?

      • 2me4art says:

Yes, i think if you send them long, they may assume its a rifle because the package is heavy, hard & as it goes through the x-ray machine they may panic. 🙂 I would love a few, but I want the eye part of the feather to stick out of a vase. Is that ok? Now for the price you loved something you saw in a store, I would love to get it for you in exchange. Perhaps a rifle? My address is Amy Saab, 3712 Northcote Drive, Birmingham, Alabama, 35223 USA. What fun!!

      • jmgoyder says:

This is fun! It might take me a bit of time to figure out – how long do you want the feathers – ie. can I cut them like a foot long?
Do not send me a rifle!!!! haha!

      • 2me4art says:

I’m gonna find the thing that you liked & see if I can find one just like as a thank you! 12″ sounds perfect. Time doesn’t matter, some day I will hear the door bell ring, I open it an WOW feathers!!!!!

      • jmgoyder says:

Yeeha – we have a deal!
