Nightmares

on October 4, 2012

Last night I had one of my adventure nightmares. We were all in a big ship – Ants, Ming and me – on the way from London to Paris.

Inside my dream I recognized the fact that (a) we don’t live in London and (b) Paris is too far away.

We all boarded the ship – Ants, Ming and me – but then I remembered that I  had forgotten Anthony’s pills and my wallet, so I asked the ship’s captain to wait a minute and he said yes.

But when I got back to the dock the ship had gone; it was way out in the ocean and I stood on the edge of the dark water, helpless and frantic, with Anthony’s pills in my hands and a hamburger for Mingy.

I was too late and they were gone.

better to have those and release that fear than to keep it inside all the time….remember, a sponge, and you are wringing it out to make room. absorb and wring it out.

Disturbing dream Julie — 😦 I have had ones with similar effect… wonder if it’s our subconscious expressing fear… helplessness.. etc. They say we work things out in our dreams though – so hoping some release came from this xxoo Love to you…

  4. Oh dear. How awful. I hate nightmare dreams as they stay with you for so long. Even years sometimes.

there are no words, my humble offerings die in my throat.

  6. aren’t you glad it was just a bad dream — though it probably reflects the loss you are feeling

    Pretty symbolic–and interesting.

  8. I guess that one’s pretty easy to interpret! Sorry for your bad dreams.

    Nightmares aren’t pleasant.

    That’s a fact.

I suspect this particlar nightmare is merely a reflection of your inner feelings. That is, your feelings of helplessness in the face of seeing Anthony fading into the distance and Ming becoming an adult & moving on with his life.

Sometimes we need to let go a little and allow the ones we love to travel their journey in life without us walking beside them, holding their hand and showing them the way.

Whatever the case, you have to remember that you’re just human. None of us are perfect. You’re doing the best you can in a difficult situation and you aught to be highly commended and admired for your strength at this time.

Try to be a little more kind to yourself. Try to stop feeling guilty.

You can’t stop the cycle of life (any more than you can stop the tide as it ebbs and flows with the movement of the Sun, Earth and Moon) .

  10. sounds like you’re scrambling to hold things together and feel as though no matter how hard you try, it’s not enough…. (((hugs))) You are a beautiful soul. ❤

If that’s not a dream about giving up control, then I don’t know what is. Medicine for Ants – not your responsibility anymore. Hamburger for Ming – feeding a child who’s nearly not a child anymore. Water is the subconscious I think, so it kind of makes sense… What do you think?

Anxiety dreams are the worst. You are doing everything you can and the ship has not sailed without you. It was a mirage on the water. They were really with you all the time. You need to sometimes change your gaze slightly to see through the haze.

  13. Bad dreams are manifestations of our anxieties. That doesn’t stop them making us feel horrible, of course, but they act as a safety net for the mind.

  14. I hate it when I have bad dreams but I hate it even more when I wake up try to shake off the bad dream go back to bed and the dream picks up straight where it left off………….

  15. Agree with magzmama. Your subconscious is telling you to let go of trying to control what is happening. All Ming and Ants really need is your love. They are on their own journeys. You can accompany them only as moral support.
