Phoenix 1 is getting more narcissistic by the day! This morning be began his ritual of trying to find his reflection in the veranda windows very early.
His view of himself was blocked, but he persevered and, eventually stopped his plaintive chirping when he saw a little bit of himself.
Finally, he saw the whole of himself. He stared admiringly for a moment, then trotted off (yes, he does trot!) to join the peacocks in eating some figs that had dropped onto the ground nearby.
So, by my calculations, this gorgeous but peculiar pheasant spent nearly 7 hours looking for a good reflection of himself, then, once he found it, he left his ‘mirror’ to have fun with the other birds.
I don’t get it and I really think Phoenix 2 should come back to give Phoenix 1 some perspective!

Beautiful fellow! And why doesn’t he have his own personal mirror?!
He just roams free so I wouldn’t know where to put the mirror!
Do you think he is looking in the glass for the reflection thinking it is Phoenix 2, and that once he catches a glimpse he goes off to play? ~ Lynda
Dunno! He hated Phoenix 2. The weird thing is he’s not doing it today, almost as if he embarrassed himself yesterday – hehe!

Thank you very much!!!
you are welcome. A very deserving blog. 🙂
Hi,
He is gorgeous, such lovely colours. I agree with Animalcouriers, you should put up a little mirror for him close to the windows leaning up against the house, I’m sure he would find it. 🙂
Are you sure we should enourage such narcissism?
Yes. 😆
thanks for liking my post….have changed my latest post vid to flickr as it didnt play with vimeo…love your pics
Wollypark sounds, and looks, like such a lovely place!
If I was Phoenix, I would be staring at myself 24/7! What a gorgeous bird!
And he looks twice as beautiful in real life!
I know he is a little young to worry about it, but maybe he was checking for gray feathers? If I had that gorgeous plumage, I’d be worried about any changes too!
You are hilarious!
