Tony

on May 12, 2012

I’m not sure whether to call Tony my best, oldest friend, or my oldest best friend because I don’t want to imply that he is old! On the other hand, it is his 60th birthday today in Perth, so Son and I are travelling up for his party and we can’t wait!

Tony and I have known each other since I was 15 and he was 22 and we have seen each other through some interesting times. He became an Anglican priest and he was the one who performed the marriage ceremony between Husband and me. He has visited us often over the years and he and I love to reminisce about our various escapades. Nobody has ever made me laugh as much as Tony does.

This was us way back in time. I am on the left and he is on the right.

And, more recently, but still some time ago.

Tony sent me these photos and in this latter picture, I like the way you can see the light in our eyes and I guess that is probably the best way I can describe his friendship to me over so many years. He has been a light, he has been lightness and he is, and always will be, the most well-lit person I know.

Happy Birthday, Tony!

  1. That second picture really does say a lot about your friendship! Great photo!

  2. I can relate to this kind of enduring friendship. I have a friend George, he has been my friend, spiritual mentor and close family friend since I was 14 and he 21. My girls adore him, my husband thinks we’re nuts but enjoys our friendship non the less.

Friends like your Tony and my George are some of the most reassuring things in life. I like how you express it. Light.

Happy Birthday to your Dear Tony from Oregon in the US of A.~
And heres to having a relaxing time with friends Jules, you’re so deserving and then some…

Your George sounds a lot like my Tony!

      • I think so too Jules. George is and has been a part of my family since dy one. He came into it with me if you will. His parents and my mom thought we;d be married until I met my husband, then reality set in. No one understood this purely platonic relationship, but George and I. And then my husband did too. Does your husband like Tony? Does he get it?

Husband likes him but is a bit jealous!!!!

      • Mine was too in the begining, did not get how a guy and girl could love each other like we do but have it not mean anything else that was threatening to our marriage
He’s been very olay about for about the last 30 years..

Platonic relationships are underrated I think!

Both photos are wonderful, but I like the older one the best. Happy birthday to Tony, and happy day to you and your son!

Happy Birdthday Tony! You guys look like best friends 🙂

It’s hard to find a good guy friend but they’re the best arent’ they? I am lucky to have a couple myself and I just don’t know what I would do without them.

Lovely photos – where would we be without good friends who accept us as we are?
