Yes, I am the daughter of a Momma who has Parkinson’s. I am no different from the Sister of a Parkinson’s brother, or the Wife of a husband who has Parkinson’s or the Husband of a wife that has Parkinson’s.
Our lives are filled with daily care, or hopes that something will change. It doesn’t. We have voices and we use them. But unfortunately our voices are not heard.
Everyday, Cancer, Alzheimer’s, and other Diseases have the privilege of being heard on the radio, and the television, brought into the fore front of the news. Us? We are a very large group of people who fight on a day-to-day basis, for some sense of normality, in a Disease that is not normal.
We are the by-standers , we watch what this Disease does to our loved ones, we cannot help them, other than to make them comfortable…

There are some great organizations here but PD doesn’t get a lot of media attention. It is such an insidious disease.
it is exactly as Jo stated, a nasty disease that we, stand by and have to watch it take their lives. Jo is right, Parkinson’s doesn’t take you life, but it can make them so depressed they want to die as Al does and give up, or they get a cold or some lung infection

PD is cruel. And what’s worse–it could be cured, were it not for the less-than-altruistic goals of pharmaceutical companies!
I know about the corruption (sort of) but am so naive – so do you reckon it could be cured?
Yes. But big pharma doesn’t want to invest in drugs that cure, they want to invest in drugs that treat–that way there’s a guaranteed, longterm income flow. If a disease is cured, no more need for meds to treat symptoms. Same with chemo for cancers. Big pharma just won’t put the R & D dollars into a drug that’s not going to be needed if it’s successful and cures the disease. Inhumane? Yes. Unethical? Yes. Pure, unadulterated, capitalism? Yes.
I think greed is the worst thing and this kind of greed is shocking.
Loved it, thankfully now days more people are aware of Parkinson’s and know it is a terrible disease but it doesn’t have rob you of your life
The gradual deterioration is the worst thing.
There is a reason Big Pharma and our combined govt’s will not find cures for things like PDD and Breast Cancer. just to name a few, that reason is greed. Just as they – Big Pharam developes diseases and conditions to fit drugs they have evolved they choose to not address searches for cures. They’d be biting their noses to spite their faces they figure.
