Oh what a lovely sunny day it was. We parked in Anthony’s favourite carpark in Perth and walked down to the antique jewellery shop where he had picked out an antique ring for me. We’d been there before of course and I had said which ring I liked, being very careful to choose something above $500 but below $5,000 – ha!
So he forked out a big wad of cash, put the ring in his pocket and we walked (well I kind of skipped) to the closest restaurant, ordered a drink and a meal and then he got the ring out of his pocket and took it out of its box and put it on my finger.
Just as our meals arrived, he mentioned that his brother thought it might be a good idea to get a pre-nuptual agreement so I very calmly took the ring off, gave it back to him, stood up, abandoning my meal,Β and walked back to the car.
Good Golly Miss Julie – well done you! And he got out of another fine mess by …
I became rather Godfreyish for awhile!
I think I would have done the same thing.
Dear me…………… there must have been some fast peddling for a while.
Yes it really is a wonder we ever got to the altar!
good girl!
Yes!
What…!!!! you took a chance.. nearly lost the man… and the ring…
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!
Ha! so the ending surprised me. Wow! You rock! π
I was extremely poised in the face of such a ridiculous situation. I have never been as poised as that before or after that day if that makes sense!
Good for you!! You know, I do not think I care for your brother-in-law very much!!
Me too – haha!
Men will always be men …. good for you – that you gave the ring back *smile – a wonderful post – what made you put it back on ?????
It took a few days!
I had to laugh at this story. Men! They think differently, don’t they? And sometimes they don’t think at all. But I’m sure Anthony came around.
Yes, by the time he reached the car park where I was standing furiously next to his car, he realized the error of his ways. Men are thick if you ask me – ha!
I’m still chuckling.
Me too, thanks to you!
Seriously, it’s a wonder you ever got together! Glad you both eventually figured it out. π
It certainly is a wonder!
Gosh, there was never any smooth sailing in this romance, was there?
No.
Haha, how tactless, especially when it comes to timing. I hope you’re still laughing about this incident 20 years later.
Laughing – yes for sure. It’s strange how horrible stuff can be funny years later!
You really stood your ground-good for you! Now I have a little understanding of what was behind that from your other blogs but wow get this all worked out before Anthony goes or dealing with the family could be nasty-and you don’t need that.
All sorted years ago – not a problem now thank god!
ah-h-h good.
ROFL. That is perfect! Atta Girl.
Yes I was stunningly indignant!
As you should have been. Hmph!
Harumph!
Oh, excuse me. I’ll use the thunder from down under….harumph! yeah, that’s better
Ha!
None of the brother in-laws business if you got a pre nup or not……….
Exactly!
Yes, the timing for that comment stunk… But atta girl for being bold. π
I’d had enough!
Highly peeved, I’m sure!
For sure!
Wow! A cliff-hanger!
Actually hanging from a cliff might have been easier!
I like your style!
OMGosh! Tis a wonder you two ever married. Good for you.
It’s a wonder all right!
