This is Malay who was ‘born’ under a shed here some months ago, and raised by two mothers. Both mothers and the other little chick were killed by that rotten fox but Malay has thrived. He is so strong (look at those legs!)
Now that he is a teenager, he is wondering if perhaps he could flirt with our new hens. So far, I have said no to his request.
No-name (on the left) and New kid (on the right) have also asked to be introduced to the new hens.
I think I should let Malay into the chookyard first because, despite the fact that he is the most ferocious looking of the four roosters, he is a gentle soul and loves a cuddle.
I have told Tina Turner that, until he stops attacking me all the time, he is not allowed to meet the hens. So far, this seems to be working as he did not attack me this morning when I fed the gang.

he is so beautiful with those black markings, i think i m in love……………….lol love all of your photos you take. makes me feel like i am there with you
Best compliment – thank you Terry!
Managing so many men…!!!!!
You are getting altogether too cheeky. If you don’t watch out I will put you in the chookpen!
That’s fine as long as its not in the pot…
ha!
Malay doesn’t even look like a rooster…he looks like some alien rock star chicken! Don’t get me wrong he’s beautiful, but I have never seen anything like it!
Alien rock star – ha! Yes he is definitely different and beautiful. The strangest thing is that his mother (who looked just like him but a bit smaller) was given to me free with a couple of bantam purchases.
ummm (stupid city girl question coming up) what are bantam purchases?
Don’t worry – I didn’t know either – little chickens is what I think it means and these two were so sweet but couldn’t fly so got killed by the fox. Many posts ago I talked about them – I will try to find an old pic. I have learned since then to NOT get anything that cannot fly. I learned the hard way.
Tina Turner is so well named! Who cares about a small thing like gender confusion?
Yeah, well he comes for bread only if I say Tina so you are right!
Lovin’ this! You are so funny! 😉 I still think you either need more chickens or less roosters. But so long as the hennies are behind the safety fence then they should be safe from too much attention. Beautiful poultry, Julie! ~ Lynda
Yes I think we need more hens! But I am not roasting those roosters! How are you?
You can’t roast old rooster. You have to stew them with mushrooms, onions and wine… “Coq au vin” Look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coq_au_vin
Mmmmmm…. 😉
I am not looking!
Oh, too bad! I had visions of it stewing slowly on the back of the Aga for the day, and filling the house with wonderful aroma. But then, there is always the market for a fat hen fully prepped for trying this recipe? 😉
You are on thin ice now!
Oh, I forgot! I am doing pretty good, and I finished that Ding-daggety-damn apron too! (A friend of mine on Facebook gave me a virtual slap for swearing when I said that… hope you don’t mind.) Posting later today!
~ L
I love swearing – swear away!
this conversation rocked! so funny you two!
Those poor hens – what a lot of expectations are building on the other side of the wire! Do look forward to hearing which chap gets to meet them first.
It’s too rainy and dismal today – I will wait until the sun shines to do the introductions. Anyway all the roosters are now roosting in their tree for the night!
Malay is handsome — and coming from me that is saying something — you have given me a better appreciation for those of the fowl persuasion
Isn’t he gorgeous!
I think Malay is gorgeous! love the pics and the story!
Tina Turner …. you can see he has an attitude – cocky !!!! Beautiful rooster – Malay has really strong legs, it shows more second last photo – … you have some handsome men around you. Love the post about the animal life around you. Thank you so much.
They are great company!!!
Tina Turner has such an attitude about him!!! 🙂
Too much vanity!
I think they are all gorgeous!
Me too!

(aren’t you glad I usually wait until your regulars comment?)
Thanks for respecting the PG rating of this blog – hahahaha!
hmmmm…when did you go PG? lol
When I set the blog up I had to tick the ratings boxes (I have no idea where that was now). You better check yours!
Mine yells at me. So I think the rating is wrong..whatever it is!
I am going to go for an M rating
I’m not qualified to go for M, assuming you mean Mature. Maybe I should try for the P rating.
Well, your last few posts are definitely P!!!
EXACTY…Potty Mouth. That’s my rating. Even when I’m not posting about Pee, I’m still a Potty Mouth. Drives my Mother nuts! I don’t do it to be rude, really, it just comes so damn natural. ha!
I am sure your mother is very Proud of you!
Awww, you say the nicest things. Ok, she is, but I still drive her nuts. 🙂
I think Malay would really be pissed off if the new guys got to meet the hens before he does since he has been there longer…………
Well technically, Tina Turner and No-name were chicks here before he was born so it’s a bit awkward – hahahaha!
Ah, yes, let him have a cuddle, haha
