Guinnea fowl [they always chatter in unison]: This feather littering has to stop. It ruins the look of the lawn.
It’s about time we saw Julie about this and reminded her that we were here first and we do NOT shed feathers like those rotten peacocks, especially the white ones. Look at this beautiful lawn – its aesthetics are ruined by white feathers!
Okay, let’s have a chat to Julie right now! The back veranda door is the best place. Come on!
JULIE!!!! JULIE!!!!!!
Oh, that is just great isn’t it. That white peacock or peahen or whatever it is beat us to it and now Julie is laughing at us. It isn’t fair!
Angelina [our smallest white peahen]: Are they gone yet, Julie?
Julie: You can feather-dust the lawn anytime, Angelina.
(loud laughter!) I have the same problem, in the barn!! The peacock feathers will grow back won’t they? There is a vase full of feathers out there! Angelina is the perfect name for this peahen.. You really do have a lot of guineas, my four are loud enough!
Yes the feathers grow back all right – almost double in size!
tell them white feathers are good luck and to stop complaining!
Good idea!
A very cheery set of pictures and captions.
Those birds do talk!
You should write a book using your lovely farm birds, photos, and that awesome wit of yours. I absolutely love these posts 🙂
Thanks! I often wonder whether this kind of post works so feel reassured now – and how are you my friend?
not a bad idea! I’m picturing children’s books and subtle lessons on tolerance and getting along!
Well that is a great idea!
that was just so cute!!!!! got a nice giggle out of me!
I just emailed you.
The things that go on in your yard!
Mmmmm.
LOL !! This is adorable — These hens are used here to eat the ticks that cause Lyme disease (think i may have told you that back when and you don’t get those ticks there – thank goodness)… Feather littering — I like that (save some of those feathers for me – remember)!! xxoo
Re the feathers – I have found out I am not allowed to post them overseas without the recipient country’s permission – am still sussing out!
Ahhh – I feared this might be the case ~ not to worry — will come one day and get my very own feathers from your place!! xo
Barefoot Baroness is looking into it!
I hope you sorted them out …. so every bird is happy in their own feathers.
That is for sure!
This so funny! Love it!
ROFL…I ADORE those photos of the lot of them headed to ‘chat with you’. OMG…so funny Jules. 😆
Those guinneas are outside my office door now chattering and grumbling. I am ignoring them!
The pictures you paint in my head are so welcome, as are the inevitable conversations between you and your troops. 🙂
Those guinneas grumble too much.
oh good…now I have a name for the conversation
unruly guinneas grumbling.
Oh Uncorrigible – when will you become corribible? (I hope never and I prob have sp wrong – argh!)
corribible? ha! I definitely need to look THAT one up! And the answer is never. 😉
I wish so much that you lived next door!
me too! think the birds would visit? 🙂
What a lovely post.. had me laughing at the antics of your yard… that white peahen is something special… and you’ve captured the head so well… looks like a secretary with pens behind the ear…
Yes she does look like a secretary – ha!
Gorgeous girls!
They are marching in unison! How funny! Question: How many birds do you have?
4 roosters, 6 chooks, 3 ducks, 2 turkeys, 3 white peacocks, a dozen coloured peacocks/fowl, a dozen guinnea fowl, 1 golden pheasant, 1 weiro, 5 geese, 2 turkeys.
There were more of all of these birds but we have a fox problem.
I love these conversations your birds have!
They never shut up!
