I am researching how to cultivate mealworms because a one kilo bag costs $80 – can you believe it? Obviously, I have only bought one of these so far and am going to use them to make my own.
Julie. YUM ?? I don’t see mealworms as your basic YUM meal, I had ham, much better than mealworms any day, but then I am not a baby peacock, so what do I know. Take care, Bill
Peachicks may like this but it doesn’t look that good to this human…………….lol
You should try handling them. I always put a plastic glove on before I give a handful to G9!
LOL! YUM 😉
Delicious!
Ewwwww!
I am going to learn how to cultivate them!
The bird is growing at a great rate.

This is so gorgeous. Here I am in Australia, sharing this little bud’s life. Love it!
🙂
Mealworms cost 80 a bag? Highway robbery I say! Gutsy-9 is growing by leaps and bounds.
I am doing heaps of research as to how to breed them! The worms I mean.
Bravo on raising your own (you need to at that price–eeks!)
There is, apparently, only one supplier around here so I might make a fortune if I figure out how to breed them!
I saw a do-it-yourself on You-Tube that looks pretty straightforward…Let me know if you want a link.
Yes please!
Here you go!
Fantastic – thank you Susan!
oh darn! and to think I had turkey and ham. Look what I could have had, mealworm!!!! LOL
To each his own. Wouldn’t do it for me:) But Gutsy looks pretty, darned happy.
He only likes to eat the ones that are still wriggling!

He’s going to grow fast!
Yummy!! 🙂
He has grown so much – but still cute. he has a long way to go to catch my big huge babies!
He is already beginning to get a little heavy on my shoulder ha!
What a little fatty! Mmmmm…good grub…good grub!
‘Good grub’ is an Australianism – do you use this term too?
Not often, but I didn’t know the origination. The worms look like my grub worms. I’ll always remember the Australianism now. 🙂
Looks disgusting, but at that price I think you need to build a mealworm farm.
I’m going to give it a go!
What a coincidence! That’s what we had for Christmas dinner, too!
Delish!
Probably shouldn’t have looked while eating breakfast 🙂 Glad Gutsy 9 enjoyed! Happy holidays
Oh, he’s too cute 😊
Good question. Pizza!? 😆
