Wait a second – don’t delete me (yet!)

on December 15, 2011

This is my 70th post and it has nothing to do with birds, not really. It has more to do with belly laughing at myself, which is what I’ve been doing for several minutes. Why?

Well, I was on the phone with a good friend (just before the belly laughing attack) and it was when she said, “Thank you for all the emails,” that I realised she thought that I was doing the email bombardment thing.

So I am using this opportunity to explain to those friends and family who were kind enough to subscribe to my blog, that it is NOT ME sending you these emails; the blog system that I belong to (WordPress) sends them to you every time I write a ‘post’ (for me this entails a mini-article with a picture or two). This means that if I am in a particularly wordy mood, you poor subscribers might get two, sometimes three, emails per day.

Again, IT’S NOT ME. Okay, I am doing the writing, but the emails just happen automatically unless you unsubscribe. Unfortunately, if you are unitiated in the world of blogging (and, remember, I am only newly initiated) you might not know how to unsubscribe in which case my blog posts will continued to crowd your email’s inbox.

I hope this explanation is not going to mean I lose half my audience!

Oh, and because this is a blog that is primarily about birds (okay, so it’s evolved into something a bit more maybe) the picture above is of our two Aracauna hens who are supposed to be laying blue eggs.

We haven’t seen a blue egg yet!

You would never lose half your audience, Julie, your posts are far too entertaining for that to happen. I love hearing about amusing, everyday stuff – keeps a smile on my face.

My SIL gives me lovely blue eggs from her hens sometimes, so be patient – they’ll appear one day.

(Only trouble is that they are so small, it takes several to make scrambled eggs for brekky).

    But they taste DELICIOUS. Mmmmmm……

To be honest, I like getting emails when the Blogs I subscribe to have new posts – it’s a good reminder (so that I don’t miss any news or photos).

Cute hens … thought the emails were a bit excessive – anyway it’s a sign your writing is prolific and definately a book in there … or two! Look forward to the launch 🙂

Love your posts and love your aracunas! Looking forward to hearing of the arrival of blue eggs. My dad always used to tell my sister and I that black chooks lay black eggs and white chooks lay white eggs to which I used to declare that it was just not true – although my sister very happily insisted he was right. He was a very tall tale teller and loved trying to trick us. I wish he was still around and I’d ask him where blue chook eggs come from. 🙂

My intention was to syndicate my blog through eBlog. It was great (I thought), until I realized that all my poor subscribers on FB were getting not only the FB blog entry, but the eBlog copy as well…. so out went eBlog. I’m not an IT expert, and, like you, am new to this. So, apologies to those who have been bombarded with repetitious blogs. Truly, it’s not my ego; rather my ignorance.. :^) Thanks for the post. It made me feel less alone in my ignorance…

It’s not only you, Julie – quite a few blogger post notifications are doubled up. Definitely a glitch with WP

As a follower, it’s possible to pick how often I receive updates – I’ve got it set so I just get one email notification a week.Since I’m on wordpress too, it’s under ‘Blogs I Follow’ on the left on my dashboard. Not sure how people who aren’t on wordpress do it though…
