Even more determination

on April 4, 2012

Husband is coming home for Easter and I am determined to make this work which could be a bit of a challenge. You see it isn’t only the dogs and birds who are presenting me with a compatibility problem, it’s also the fact that Son’s relationship with Husband is fraught with tension. With both of my ‘boys’ incapacitated, Husband permanently with Parkinson’s, and Son temporarily with the post-surgical back brace, my attention is divided and the 3-way dynamics sometimes resemble a comic strip with me as the punchline.

Yes, indeed, sometimes three is literally a crowd, so, even though he doesn’t know this yet, Son is going to Grandma’s for a couple of days so that I can give Husband my undivided attention. Well, not quite as I am not really into doing the doting wife thing so Husband would find that a bit alarming, but I will try!

I’ve been training the guinnea fowl into a welcoming party and they are doing very well.

What a great plan Julie! You are so great in every way. The guinnea fowl appear all geared up and ready to assist – I can tell!

  2. You had me laughing out loud at the welcoming party. So funny!

I agree with Robyn Lee! It is OK to make time for the two of you, and probably is good for the Son to get out for a few days too! Love that welcoming committee! ~ Lynda

Like little soldiers! I hope Husband enjoys the parade! Sounds like a good plan for Easter weekend. Happy Easter!

    Hi,
I love the idea of the welcoming party, and they look all set for the day. 😀

I love these birds. They were all over in Chobe National Park in Botswana…they nicknamed them Chobe chickens. Good luck with your husband and son. You do have a full plate.

I am sending you positive thoughts. Although my situation is nowhere near yours, I fully understand the challenges of dividing my attention between The Farmer, his 3 boys, my 3 children, 3 cats, 2 dogs, and 80+ beef cattle (I say 80+ because we are in the birthing season). I wonder….when do I get their “undivided” attention to pamper me !?!? Do I really want the undivided attention of that angry mama cow ?!?!?

A cheerful, comical welcoming party – hope you have a happy and relaxed Easter 🙂

Julie, you amaze me with your tenacity and determination! Your life is a test that demands courage and intelligence, you pass the test every time. I’m proud of you girl! 🙂

  12. Just saw your blog! It is really a lovely thing! Thanks for visiting mine! Will be following your journey! Love and peace to you as you go!

  13. Oh–and love the way the birds move in a pack!

looks like a good welcoming party to me!

  15. How long will Husband be with you? I’m sure that’s very difficult on every level. Father and Son tension is terrible. Our son, a single dad, and our grandson live with us. At times the tension is terrible. You don’t seem the fretful type, but remember: every thing will work out as it is supposed to. Hope your Easter goes well.

I’m now postponing Husband’s visit until tomorrow but haven’t had the guts to ring and tell him yet. Thanks for your comment – I see you know what I mean!!!

  16. Thank you for checking in on my site, “inmemoryofcharlottejmurphree.wordpress.com”, her passing grieves me still. I keep the family activity ongoing on the site in hopes that it will be a connection between her and us as we continue the journey without her. I will continue to follow your site. :0)

  17. I completely empathize. When we have my mother-in-law at our house at the same time as my daughter, I feel like I have gone over my limit of people who can depend on me simultaneously! Good luck!

Kiss them both & cherish the time you get with them separtely. It is a struggle but so worth it & you will sit down next week and have great memories.

Plus the outdoors will be so good for the healing souls.

  19. Thank you for replying…you have a wonderful place to live and write. You may enjoy my new puppy site…http://ateddybearsjourney.wordpress.com
and I also have an art and poetry site…http://myjourneyintoartandpoetry.wordpress.com

Good plan Julie – (arranging that you’re able to devote a couple of days exclusively to just the two of you).

But however DO you train the Guineafowl to do what you want. As you know by my own blog, the Guineafowl turn their backs to my camera lens (more often than not).

  21. In process of seperating art and poetry…new addresses will be on the inmemory site soon. Have a great weekend.
