A long time ago ( several weeks at least) I had an early morning routine. I would bring lettuce and stale bread, with my first coffee, and place everything on the picnic table pictured. Then I would let the gang out and we would all meet at same picnic table.
Well, I have broken this routine many times now, due to various circumstances. The gang, however, still live in hope, and sprint, or soar, towards this picnic table every morning regardless of whether I have any treats for them or not!
They are so enculturated into this routine that, even when I am behind them with tidbits galore, they always go to this picnic table first! Just after I took this photo, I said, ‘I’m here, you sillies!’ and they turned around very speedily!

The geese look fluffy. Never thought I would say that about a full-grown goose, but I like it. And what smart little poops, they know where to get treats!

Yes, they’re the Sebastopols – aren’t they interesting. If they didn’t poop so much I would get them to dust the house now that you’ve given me that idea/image – ha!

My geese ignore me, the chickens on the other hand are always after me for a treat! I have been working on Polly, and now when I hold out my hand she is waddling quickly to see what I have. 😉 ~ Lynda
Good luck with Polly! I had most of the geese from babies so that’s why they’re so tame. Alas I have no hens, just roosters, but am gonna get some soon.
If you have more than one rooster you will need about 10 hens for each!!! Otherwise your little hen’s backs will be defeathered from too much attention and the roosters will begin fighting each other relentlessly. Ask me how I know this…

You could buy a handful of hens and then re-home two of the roosters? That is what I would do, but then, I am not you…
If you want to eat the chicken eggs you only need about two hens. If you want to start an egg ranch then order up the 30 hens! LOL!

I am going to have to get Son to video the way they fly/run behind me every morning when I let them out and then turn away again – they seem to like doing a bit of a lap of the backyard!
Can’t blame them. I’m sort of a creature of habit too. And I like enough routine to feel like I have structure in my life, even when I don’t.
I must get more organized!!
