A long time ago ( several weeks at least) I had an early morning routine. I would bring lettuce and stale bread, with my first coffee, and place everything on the picnic table pictured. Then I would let the gang out and we would all meet at same picnic table.
Well, I have broken this routine many times now, due to various circumstances. The gang, however, still live in hope, and sprint, or soar, towards this picnic table every morning regardless of whether I have any treats for them or not!
They are so enculturated into this routine that, even when I am behind them with tidbits galore, they always go to this picnic table first! Just after I took this photo, I said, ‘I’m here, you sillies!’ and they turned around very speedily!

I love the feathers on the goose in the foreground – all blowzy and dishevelled.
Yes, it is a Sebastopol goose – so wonderful – we have 3!
Awwwww…absolutely adorable! They are just like the vervet monkeys that come to visit us so often too..hehehe. Always great to visit hon. Thanks for the lovely shares. 🙂
*hugs*
I want a monkey!!
LOL! You don’t want these vervet monkeys. They are way too naughty! heheheh
Okay – I will take your word for it!
The geese look fluffy. Never thought I would say that about a full-grown goose, but I like it. And what smart little poops, they know where to get treats!
Haha! I am just about to put the poopers away!
Looks like your changes have ruffled a few feathers.
Funny!
Creatures of habit like me.
I need to become more habitual!
Those geese with the wild feathers are great. They look like walking feather dusters. Love it!
Yes, they’re the Sebastopols – aren’t they interesting. If they didn’t poop so much I would get them to dust the house now that you’ve given me that idea/image – ha!
We’ve nominated you for the Sunshine Award: http://pawstotalk.net/2012/04/18/bella-and-didi-the-standard-poodles-were-balls-of-sunshine/
We love your blog and hope you enjoy the award.

You guys are too kind – thx!!!
Reminds me of some of my own habits!! Good post!
I just love geese and these are very beautiful (and/or handsome!).
Yes, they are definitely my favourites but don’t tell the peacocks!
My geese ignore me, the chickens on the other hand are always after me for a treat! I have been working on Polly, and now when I hold out my hand she is waddling quickly to see what I have. 😉 ~ Lynda
Good luck with Polly! I had most of the geese from babies so that’s why they’re so tame. Alas I have no hens, just roosters, but am gonna get some soon.
If you have more than one rooster you will need about 10 hens for each!!! Otherwise your little hen’s backs will be defeathered from too much attention and the roosters will begin fighting each other relentlessly. Ask me how I know this…
So glad you told me this – thx! With 3 roosters I will need 30 hens? Augggggghhhhhh!
You could buy a handful of hens and then re-home two of the roosters? That is what I would do, but then, I am not you…
If you want to eat the chicken eggs you only need about two hens. If you want to start an egg ranch then order up the 30 hens! LOL!
Oh! No I cant rehome Tina Turner – we would miss our mutual antagonism!
Awww, that’s so sweet. They do seem to be looking for their treats.
They never stop looking for treats!
Pavlov’s geese? Cute Julie!
Pavlov’s geese – yes!
sharing the Inspiring Blog award with you…thanks….
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think, deep down, we all like to be creatures of habit!
You are right! I have lost all semblance of any routine at all but I need to get it back!
Love the geese. Look like they’re in tutu.
And they walk like hula dancers!
Talk about eager anticipation! Too funny!!
I am going to have to get Son to video the way they fly/run behind me every morning when I let them out and then turn away again – they seem to like doing a bit of a lap of the backyard!
Can’t blame them. I’m sort of a creature of habit too. And I like enough routine to feel like I have structure in my life, even when I don’t.
I must get more organized!!
