I think his spine is giving up – I will sleep with him tonight and comfort him. He is not obese but vet said it’s a casualty of the breed. He might come good and I am crossing my fingers.
What a cute little doggie – I wish him a speedy recovery! I know how hard it is when your fur baby isn’t well – take care, and by the way, your blog is wonderful!
At first I thought you were working toward an MD with all the medical issues you have to keep aware of….now I guess you are adding DVM to the list. I’m here for you.
I am so sad dear Julie… I know this feeling my cat died because of cancer and we were so sad when our veterinar told this. My prayers for you all, love, nia
Unfortunately, I think he is reaching the end. The same thing happened a few years ago with his mate, Inky – her back just suddenly went and she couldn’t walk. He is so frail so we are keeping him inside.
Sending hugs all around for last few posts – would seem strange to “like” them 😉 A friend called me today who spent all day at the vet with an emergency with one of theirs. So hard, they are such a part of the family. They are home again with their dog tonight, who is, as my friend says “on good drugs” lol Unsure also what the outcome will be as diagnosis was unclear. You really are getting it from all sides (literally with the birds this morning 🙂 Hang in there!
I am so sorry to hear Doc isn’t well. I have two dachshunds myself and I love and adore them so I can imagine you are going through a traumatic time with Doc. My Rosie had a very severe back injury when she was only three. I came home to find she couldn’t walk – couldn’t move her back legs. She’d tried to jump up onto the couch while I was out so she could get a broken biscuit and must have slipped as she jumped off. The vet said she’d need a $4,000 operation and may need to be put down but miraculously she pulled through. She’s now nine and hasn’t had a back problem since. I do hope your Doc experiences a similar miracle xx
Thank you so much – yeah, Doc is getting over it with steroids but he is around 10 now and suddenly seems very old and very unlike his normal self! Glad your Rosie is okay!
I’m so sorry to hear about your pup! I like Celi’s Idea about taking him in for a visit with Husband. Maybe it would cheer them both up. That is if the pup is up for the drive. ~ Lynda
His female mate, Inky, had the same thing a few years ago – it’s quite sudden. She went paralysed almost instantly and we had to have her put down. Doc seems a bit improved but it’s just a matter of time – I am getting so used to this cycle of death and life I almost sound callous don’t I – oh dear!
What a sad face.
Yeah, he’s not well – so sad.
What’s wrong Julie?
I think his spine is giving up – I will sleep with him tonight and comfort him. He is not obese but vet said it’s a casualty of the breed. He might come good and I am crossing my fingers.
Aw, hope he feels better! He is sweet looking!
Vet reckons his spine is deteriorating – same thing happened to his ‘wife’ a few years ago – I am so worried.
Oh, so sorry! You’ve just got so much going on in the health department! Yikes!
Never a dull moment – grr!
Hope things work out well for Doc. Love that face.
Isn’t he gorgeous! Thanks Lee – Juliex
So sorry, Julie. I grew up with dachshunds, and they had spine issues. So sad. Hang in there!
Thanks Ruth!
i hope Doc’s feeling better soon.
Not looking good.
Oh dear you are having a time of it. hope your dog gets better enough to go and visit Husband. c
Thanks C – I hope so too – Jx
Oh Dog! I hope you’re feeling better soon Doc!
Thanks!!
Kisses for Doc
Hope he gets better
Not looking good but thank you!
Thanks Katrina!
Such a lovely soul, you can see it in his eyes.
I’m so sorry Jules.
Whi has more “fun” than you do? Good Grief. Wish I could come make you Queen for the day~
Thanks BB!

Thanks for the generous comment Angela! Juliex
It’s not fun when our pets are sick. So sorry.
Thanks anneli!
Hope Doc gets better, he’s a cutie for sure!
He certainly is!
At first I thought you were working toward an MD with all the medical issues you have to keep aware of….now I guess you are adding DVM to the list. I’m here for you.
Sorry to be so dumb but what is MD and what is DVM?
Poor guy. I hope it’s something temporary, and not the spine problem.
It’s his spine unfortunately – a condition common to this breed.
I am so sad to hear this dear Julie, I hope everything work well for Doc. My heart with you, Thanks and Love, nia
I think he is dying so we will keep him in the house – he is quite old now and his spine is bad even though he isn’t fat.

He is very old for a dog so it’s sad – yes.
I too hope it works out. What a sweetie he is. His face says it all.
Awful how suddenly a lively dog can become frail and old.
Oh no.. poor doc! Give him a pat for me… x
I think he might be a gonner.
What a face! I will light a candle. Our thoughts are with you – DogDaz

Thank you very much twizz!
Oh, that’s sad, Julie – I’m sorry. He has such a wonderful face and intelligent look in his eyes.
Thanks bluebee!
Bless his little heart. I am so glad he is wrapped up in all the love I can sense in your words. Sending you and Doc all my love. x
Thank you!
Poor thing.
Oh Doc, hang in there, it will get better 😉
Not sure!
The poor old boy’s looking very sorry for himself. Fingers crossed for you that he pulls through.
It looks like the beginning of the end – I seem to be getting used to this – argh!

I am going to take Doc in tomorrow if I feel unfluey enough! Thanks for your other comments too – you are a legend!
LOL! Dare I ask?

It’s not looking good.
Oh no! Hang in there!
Bella and DiDi
It’s his spine.
Poor Doc. What is it?
Spinal.
Oh dear. That doesn’t sound good.

It’s inevitable, around so many animals. And people.
Yes – it’s a strange lesson for me. Thanks Tilly!
What a sad adorable face. There seems to be something in the air over there! Hope he makes a full recovery soon!
I think he is dying – so sad.
