Ears up, ears down

on July 17, 2012

Okami’s ears are always up.

Uluru’s ears are usually down ….

…. and sometimes up!

Phoenix 1 thinks their ear antics are a sign of immaturity.

PS: Another animal I haven’t a chance of owning… OH WAIT… I did get the four new Weechus! Perhaps there is hope. 😉

  6. I’ve forgotten what they are. Are they lamas? Or some relative of lamas? I hate to ask this because I’m sure I’m the only one who doesn’t know. They sure are cute.

The alpaca, llamas, guanacos and vicunas are South America family of the camels. Since they live high in the Andes in valleys and plateaus they forage in high grasses and are always at open terrain, the storms are almost a daily event, the herds sit on the ground and lower their ears by instinct no to attract any lightning. Most cattle or animals have that instinct.

My dad had an alpaca sweater, once. No wonder I liked it so much!

There’s a Danish couple that’s got a weaving enterprise going in the middle of West Texas. They’ve got their own herds of alpacas, sheep and such. I’ve only been there once, but it might be a fun little trip, and a great photo essay!
