Peacock feathers

on September 30, 2012

To those I offered to send peacock feathers to, I apologize for not having done so yet but apparently each country has its own rules about this kind of gift. So, if you want some, you need to check out your own country’s rules and get back to me and then I can arrange.

King  and the others will be shedding again soon, so I will have plenty. I/we just have to work out the legal logistics.

for me that would be an honor to hold something in my hand that you had touched and held……..

I tried looking into the regulations about the US but you’re right, it seems ridiculously complicated!! Any luck?
I will continue to investigate when I get some time, but if you figure it out in the meantime, and have a few extra, I would definitely be interested! 🙂 my email is aktheauthor@gmail.com

I’ve found out that it’s relatively simple for the sender but it’s the recipient who needs the main permission – still looking into it – thanks Andrea!

Who knew everything was so complicated!!

I have rung a bunch of various authorities and nobody seems to know the rules – it’s seen as a grey area but I would hate to send something and have it confiscated. I think it is the fear of bacteria on the feathers.

That makes sense! I suppose there are all sorts of little critters we don’t know about that could be a problem if they end up on a different continent…it would be a shame to have them just end up in a dead mail center though!!

  3. Do they shed every year? You must have a treasure trove!

    • jmgoyder says:

We only have the one adult male and this is his second year so yes he sheds every year. I have given heaps away! The teenage peacocks will probably shed too soon!

I’ll look into receiving laws here in the US and in the UK…if they are less strict there, I may have you send me one while i’m in london?
