Prince (our only white peacock): I just love the smell of my feathers – glorious!
King: I know what you mean, Prince – I love the angles of my shadow on the lawn.
Okay, years ago – well before Ants and I got married and had Ming and well before Ants got so sick – I asked him to explain his arrogant, strutting self-posturing.
He said (and I will never forget it), “Jules, men have to love themselves just in case nobody else does.”
Oh!
What a witty bloke. I should ask my partner and see what he says.
Yes and tell me what he says!
Men and peacocks. Hmmm. Anthony had a point.
That was pretty insightful of Ants…thought women the more likely candidates for built in self defense mechanisms like that. Learn something new every day…and I’ve been surrounded my nothing but men my entire life and I never thought to ask that question!
intriguing – you have cheered me up
wish i could do more than that…so much more!
haha!
that was so cute, but I agree, there is something to be said about a male’s ego!
super interesting comment by Ants there… amazing actually! I think once the man (or woman) loves him/herself (genuinely) than everyone else will just follow suit! So he was on to something! Loved this! xo
Yes – he doesn’t love himself anymore which is sad.
We have a neighborhood peacock. He goes to a community building several times a day to admire his reflection in the glass doors on the porch. He’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen:)
Yes they love themselves!
I like Ant’s humor … you know that not only great feathers will not make a nice birds. *smile
A terrific response. It’s insightful to hear a man say something like that. A fear no one will love them; isn’t that a fear we all have?
Hey sounds like he was spot on about men loving themselves……………….lol
Hmmm…interesting.
So that’s why! Who knew? Ants. 🙂
Yes he is a fount of wisdom heha!
Rick wasn’t a body builder (he was a rock-n-roll drummer) and never did the muscle flexing thing, but one of my sons is/does! Oh man! Is he ever proud of himself! Struts like a peacock! Do you get the Geico commercial on tv there? The one where the body builder is directing traffic? Hilarious!
Ha – no I haven’t seen that commercial but it sounds like fun!
You may well be well loved but be unsure that this is so. You may appear to love yourself but it may only as a cover for a deep distrust about your loveablitly. On the other hand you may love yourself because you really are lovable and it’s just that no one else has noticed. There are so many possibilities.
I can’t think of a clever enough reply, Mr Loveable!
that is adorable and sweet and kind of sad
That’s their excuse and they’re sticking to it, haha
