Love story 106 – Hugging and kissing

on October 10, 2012

I went into the nursing lodge this afternoon armed with red wine. Don’t get me wrong here; I am just attempting to emulate the arvo drinks we used to have – that pre-dinner ritual. Obviously Anthony can’t have more than a tiny glassful and I just have a light beer. We made friends with a new resident whose son and daughter-in-law were visiting and gave them what was left of our bottle of brandy (I fetched it from Anthony’s room). It was fun – sort of. A couple of the nurses were hilariously encouraging of our little pub crawl.

I helped a nurse help Ants to the dinner table then hugged and kissed him for the millionth time and left. On my way home I realized how hugging/kissing beats the hell out of red wine.  Yeah, I know that is commonsense but I have never had a lot of that – still learning!

Who knew?!?! hahahahaha! I always knew hugs were therapeutic, but I wonder what the psycho/etc. effects are for kissing, besides the obvious. Is there research for this? hahahaha

It needs to be photoshopped but I don’t know how!

What would you want edited/changed? I am not a wizard but have some basic editing abilities — let me know maybe you can send the original file and I can help you… It’s adorable!! xo

I would love you to ‘fix’ the photo because I am not a photographer and you are. I just think the lighting and focus could be better? I’ll email you the photo!

    Hugs and kisses!! c

  4. Just loved this. When I was Director of Nursing in a Long Term Care facility part of my job was “bartending” because I knew the residents meds and who could have what. It was one of my favorite duties!

Is that peacock snogging? How adorable! My male wants some snogging, but the females just don’t listen.

Sounds like you all had a wonderful time Julie. Especially the hugging and kissing part. 🙂

I come from a family of non-huggers and kissers, but when I married the Electrician, I married into a family of over huggers (I now hug strangers), and we kiss a bunch. It truly is a great feeling!
    HUGS!!!

  8. Yes, I would take the hugs over red wine any day! Hugs to you oooo 🙂

One is never too old to learn. I think the older we are, the more we appreciate the preciousness of the newly found. I know I do.

  10. Yes hugs and kisses are awesome and I would prefer a nice hug over a nice glass of red but then I don’t drink red wine so of course I would………….lol

I think that is a sweet thing u do with the wine. It has to help Ants to think and remember on good memories. Just don’t drive home smashed, hehehehehe

Ming and I are meeting my mum at the nursing lodge this afternoon at around the same time. I am beginning to look forward to these little ‘sessions’!

I love that you brought the wine. Hugging and kissing, of course, but a bit of home to make that hug *yours,* divine.

  15. I don’t always comment on the sad posts because I don’t know what to say, like the previous one about Anthony falling. But you have all my sympathy on your journey.

I’m glad you have moments like these to lighten the load.

It’s amazing how comforting, healing and therapeutic a genuine hug can be. Free and effective therapy…that’s how I see it.
