Apparently, in Hindu culture, the peacock’s crown symbolizes the music of the heart via the head. It’s interesting to watch Gutsy9’s little crown grow.

Oh this is fabulous. We’re getting to see how a Peacock develops both emotionally and physically. Just love it π
It’s like he has a little cap on!
He blends in so well with the background in this photo! That’s interesting about the crown – makes it sound very romantic. π
He looks like he has a mohawk!
Was just going to say .. he looks like a Mohawk or David Beckham. Handsome young fellow in other words.
And he knows it!
you are such a good teacher and mother to both your human son and bird son
ha!
Gutsy9 is looking cuter by the minute.
Never thought about how that crown plume would look in a tiny chick. Do keep us posted with pics as it develops – it’s an interesting part of their appearance.
“the music of the heart through the head” LOVE that and never knew it before! Thank you!
It’s a rather lovely idea.
βthe music of the heart through the headβ That is so beautiful! (as is your baby’s growing crown) so sweet.
I love the idea!
Little Gutsy-9 looks like he is sporting a little mohawk right now. He is adorable. Did you know that the peacock is featured in Greek mythology. Zeus was having his way with a Greek maiden, her name was Io, and when Zeus sensed Hera coming he changed Io into a lovely white cow. Hera knowing what he did, pretended to love the cow and Zeus had to give it to her as a present. Hera had her faithful 100 eyed bodyguard Argo watch over the cow. His eyes were all over his body so he never slept without at least one eye open. Zeus sent his son Hermes to try to get Io out of her situation. Hermes set about telling Argo the most boring tale in the world and one by one, Argo’s eyes closed and soon he was dead bored to death. Hermes was tried by his peers but no one found him guilty and Hera to honor her faithful guard placed his eyes on the plummage of the peacock who realized how exquisite his feathers had become and became the vainest bird in history. Io escaped, still a cow and Hera sent a horsefly after her. Io lept over the Bosphorus Fjord into Egypt where she was worshiped and Zeus was allowed to set her back into maiden form and she became Queen and produced pharoahs for Egypt. There is a taste of Greek mythology. π
I didn’t know any of this – it’s fantastic. THANKYOU Laurie!
You are very welcome. I love telling stories related to Greek mythology. It is one of my favorite subjects.:)
I’ve never thought about a peacock actually having to – you know – grow that crown! Of course, I’ve never seen a baby peacock, either. This really is fascinating – thanks for taking the time to post the photos for us.
I never thought about this before either!
awww how precious!!!
Just read, and commented on, your latest post. I hope what I’ve said helps a bit.
He’s getting feathers!
Not much fluff left now!
Can’t wait to see the colouring when he’s all feathered out.
Me too – his colouring is really uneven so far and of course I love this!
Wow! He has grown so much! “The music of the heart”-that is interesting idea and of course hits close to home..I am wondering if he will be a white peacock…will he will ask who his birth parents are and maybe go to therapy? Obviously he made the right choice imprinting on you…and I am enjoying watching him grow and hearing about him.
He is a hybrid – love this!
Can you give me the web address for your blog again? My friend [whose husband has Parkinson’s Disease] still hasn’t gotten online to find you. I think she is VERY distracted everything that is going on in her life. However, I know she is still interested in seeing what you’ve written – I just have to “hit” her over the head a few times to get her to find you…
So…. what’s your blog’s address, again, pretty please?

I feel so sorry for your friend.
Thank you!
He’s gotten so big!
The growth is remarkable!
Julie, I have learned more from you and Gutsy9 about peacocks in the last 3 months than I had in the last 60 + years, thank you for the continuing education. Take care, Bill
You are welcome!
I just love this Gutsy9… he is so educational and a good companion… loved the Greek myth story in the comments…
