All alone – ahhhhhhh!

on April 20, 2013

Pure bliss!

Ming has gone to Perth to watch a football game so there is nobody here to say:

What’s for dinner?
Why are you flooding the pens and wasting water on those stupid birds?
I thought we were watching a movie together 20 minutes ago!
I don’t particularly like this dinner – what is it?
What the hell are you crying for – what did I do wrong now?
Don’t touch any of my stuff!
But why do you want me to move out?
You ruined my life yesterday when you said to move out.
No, I don’t want to ring Dad again!

On the other hand….

Mum, you are like my mate.
Do you need a hug?
I’m sorry I didn’t like the dinner – I tried to!
Are you okay?
Can we have a talk about life tonight?
I wish I knew Dad when he was young.
I love you, Mum.

He is my best friend – this Ming – but it’s still rather pleasant to be Mingless for 24 hours – haha!

    Good grief, Julie.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, victoriaaphotography. πŸ™‚

  3. Enjoy your bliss…. it’s great not to have to deal with anything except what you want to do…. at least for a little while… of course when you get my age then it’s I wonder if any of the kids or grandkids will call…or maybe come out and see us… Need a happy medium…Diane

  4. you will appreciate him more when he comes back–guaranteed — sometimes we just need a rest!

  5. Children, they are yours and you love them too no end and forever but there are times when, especially after they are grown, that you thank the universe that they can’t read your mind. I know this from experience with my two.
I am glad that you have alone time for now. Isn’t it extraordinarily wonderful in itself and its brevity? I say this because if it lasts too long the wonderful part tends to go away because you miss them to pieces. πŸ™‚

You should have gone with him. Football can be a bit like watching paint drying (Scottish football is like this and played in the depth of winter when it is freezing cold) but you should be able to buy a cup of tea, a pie and chips, like you do in the UK. I recommend the tea only as the pies and chips are very unhealthy.

I used to take football photographs for newspapers for 10 years, but got bored stiff going to the most dreich (Scots word for dark) of grounds. I still have nightmares.

In one football ground the ladies toilet had a hole in the floor, no water in the taps and no lock on the door. I had to walk at the edge of the floor near the wall to avoid falling into the hole and stick one leg out while using the toilet to keep the door closed. It was a complete dump.

You should go to a match at least once so you can experience it for yourself. Some of the language is a bit strong at times, though. Not very nice for a good Presbyterian like myself!

  20. Yes. One can love them and miss them yet treasure the time alone when they are gone all t the same time. The confusion of motherhood.

Back from vacation, and I have to say, it’s nice to have a break from routine. And a Ming-less day is like that. A bit of freedom from the same-old, same-old. Hope you thoroughly enjoy yourself. Hope Ming enjoys himself too.

  25. Yes it is nice to have a night home alone………………

  26. Lynda says:

So did you end up enjoying yourself? I think I would have had a good soak in the tub with candles and later a favorite treat! πŸ˜‰
