Today is the fifth day I have been out to lunch with various family and friends AND had visitors in the evening. I feel thoroughly resocialized!
Yesterday was lunch at the local tavern with Ming’s best mates’ families. The day before was lunch at a restaurant with Ming, Meg and Anthony, where Anthony proved that his appetite is still quite healthy by vacuuming up two dozen oysters naturale AND a chocolate dessert (even though he had already had his usual roast dinner at the nursing home!)
And then there was lunch with with an old friend whose husband is in hospital, lunch with Tony (which I already blogged about), lunch today with Anthony’s niece who is also my niece but she is older than I am but looks younger (grrr!), then drinks here with another old friend, her husband and gorgeous daughter, then last night a rollicking time with my first niece, Ash, and her Scottish husband, who have both moved back to Australia.
Happiness can be a bit exhausting. Oh yes, and the peahens are gradually returning!
Thanks for the old!!!!
Ha! It was so fantastic to see you and love it that we can now keep in touch in this way too!
Oh, you gaddabout you.
I don’t know how you keep it up, Julie.
……..and glad to hear the peahens are back. The ‘boys’ will be putting on a fan dance or two to celebrate.
I saw two peahens yesterday but none today – will just have to wait and see.
Yay for everything you mention! Great to be exhausted by pleasure.
Yes!
I’m glad that you have some ‘spunk’ in your voice…. Diane
I have the best of friends!
This is such a pleasing post… wonderful…
Getting there!
Sounds like a whirlwind of family and friendship! I don’t know how you’ve keeping up. You must have more energy than I do! Great news about the peahens!
I don’t have any energy after all that haha!
Glad to hear about the peahens’ return.
Still hoping!
Glad you’ve been re-socialized, re-energized!
Haha – thanks!
That’s great that the peahens are returning! And, glad you’re out and about enjoying. 🙂
No more lunches for awhile!
I am so happy that you are socially exhausted, it is so very good to have others in your life and your heart. Hooray for the returning peahens! 😀
I am so lucky!
Eating out is good once in a while.
When I think of oysters, I remember the scene where in the film Mr Bean’s Holiday when he has oysters in a French restaurant and hates them. The waiter encourages him to eat them, so he holds up his napkin to his mouth and then pretends to eat them. He is actually pouring the oysters into the napkin and then pours them into a woman’s handbag, which causes her to scream. He makes a hasty departure. You can view it on YouTube.
On another note, I remember when I was young going on a cycling holiday and stopping at a café. There was a sign at the till which said ‘buy one meal get one free’. We got some fish and chips and went to pay for them at the till, but the woman was going to charge for all 4 meals when we should only have been charged for two meals – two meals being free.
When we pointed to the sign about the free meals, she moved a box in front of the sign to reveal the message ‘Mondays to Fridays only’. As we were in the cafe on a Saturday, there were no free meals. After much discussion telling her it was unfair to deliberately hide the part about only being on Mondays to Fridays, she agreed to only charge for the two meals.
The café was in Perth, Scotland which became Perth City in 2012!
Your comments always fascinate me – yes I know that Mr Bean episode. Thank you Jane!
Good to hear , both about re-socialization and peahens!
I haven’t seen peahens today but still hoping.
Julie, LOL when you said “out to lunch” I got a completely different connotation. But it only took a second to realize you were being a social butterfly. I am so glad you had such a good social week. Take care and keep smiling. Bill
I think your ‘out to lunch’ is actually quite accurate Bill – haha!
Love this, Julie! 😀
Thanks Lynda.
So busy and eating out so much would cost a pretty penny………………….I can’t afford to eat out.
It’s gonna be bread and water for awhile!
All of these luncheons are good for you! I am glad you are having a wonderful time! I am thrilled the Peahens are returning!
Thanks Terry!
So happy you are being wined and dined! xoxo
