I was holding Anthony’s hand the other day and he very gently removed my hand from his and gave it back to me.
Me: So you don’t like holding hands with me any more, Ants?
Anthony: It’s a bit tiring, Jules.
Okay.

It seems an odd comment but what I wanted to say was ‘How sweet’.
And funny!
Perhaps you should just gently touch his arm as you speak a sentence and then let go. Tactile therapy and loving communication can be fleeting and still meaningful.
This feels so sad to me. It could be a simple thing – but I know you are missing the connection you once had. To be denied even holding hands seems like something that would cause a pang in your heart. Julie, I feel it. 😦
It’s pangy but also funny so it’s okay Judy xxx
Gotta “hand” it to you, Julie! Funny is always better! You’ve got a better “grip” on this than I do!
So sad. I hope you are okay.
Sorry – I didn’t mean it to sound sad x
Oh my gosh Julie!!! Don’t hate me….but sometimes I have to let go of my husband’s hand. For no reason other than it does get tiring. Physically I mean. Sigh. Me and Anthony. You and my husband. I hope both of you can forgive both of us!!!!
Oh that is so so funny!
🙂 I have my moments. 😉
i know what it represents must be hard to accept on your side, when he says this, but i also know that filters fall down with age and illness, and he was probably speaking honestly, from a practical sense, not an emotional one. he is tired, in general, trying to hold it all together, doing the best he can. has nothing to do with loving you any less, though it could surely feel like that, but he’s probably just saying what comes to him in the moment. he also says the funniest things quite often, part of his personality, it’s clear.
😅😍
Sometimes I think we have to look at comments and actions as we would coming from a child. Children generally speak honestly and without malice. They don’t mean to hurt our feelings, so we have to let go of the “pang.” Then we chuckle.
Yes it can be at times tiring sometimes just knowing the other person is there is enough
They say the darnedest things!
