Thank you

on January 2, 2018

The supportive comments I have received over the last several years have been wonderful and I am very grateful. Now that Anthony has died, I am a bit lost; there is no amazingly indestructible person to write about. As I flounder through this grief I’ve decided to stop blogging for the time being. Thank you to all of you who have supported me.

Ps. I will still receive notifications via email of my favourite bloggers’ posts but I am in too much of a fug to comment atm. I am off Facebook too now (phew!) Happy new year to all x

I don’t remember when we first connected via WP but I am so glad we did. Very grateful for your understanding, Beth xxx

      • ksbeth says:

i’m not sure when either, julie, but we do have some connections across the globe. my daughter is married to a bunbury boy, lived there for years and one of her husband’s good friends is the young anthony goyder, a cousin of some sort of your anthony, and good friends with your gardener and his wife, who i know as well from visiting. the world is a tiny place after all, and i love your story –

  4. Happy New Year Julie. I have been thinking of you but don’t have a way to contact you. I’ll be here waiting for your return. Wherever you are, your amazing indestructible person’s love is as strong as ever. ❤

  5. I hope the new year brings healing too you. you really don’t know how much you have been to me personally. I have patients suffering with dementia and thanks to your perspective it has enabled me to help both them and their carers.
hope when you do start blogging again, about whatever, if you do you will let me know

    • jmgoyder says:

Hi Brenda – I am going to keep my blog open for me to post, but am going to be silent for the time being. I am so glad my perspective on dementia helped you in your role – that means so much to me.

  6. Vicki says:

It may seem inane and insensitive, Julie, but Happy New Year to you too. Life is full of twists and turns, but eventually……….the right path becomes clear and you can move forward with confidence. I hope there are some good times ahead in 2018 that fill your life with Hope and Happiness again. That book needs writing and there are some many people in your situation that you can help with your experience.
    Much Love, Vicki xx

    • jmgoyder says:

Oh Vicki – all of these years, we have been corresponding and still haven’t met. Your blog posts, blog advice and your honesty helped me to better hone my own blog. I can’t thank you enough for all of that! I think it will be great for me to be off blogging in order to concentrate on writing the book and other things. We can still keep in touch via email. I so admire your attitude to life and to illness and to hope. Love Julie

  7. misifusa says:

Sending you and Ming big healing hugs. xoxo

  8. You need to take time … A fellow blogger who you may know.. (I’m not sure) who lost her husband a couple of years ago…I communicate with her by email and something she wrote just this past month, I’ve copied and pasted just one bit of it. While you’re not there yet, just know that there are many who can identify with your pain and confusion…. Love Diane x

“Life is full again and has purpose. I never thought my life would be exciting again and assumed I would live out the rest of my days, thinking of Tom daily, working, doing some hobbies and attending church and bible study. I forgot that God always has adventures for us.”

    • jmgoyder says:

Hi Diane – I don’t think I know this other blogger but what a wonderful quote – thank you! I plan to get off any social media (including blogging) as much as possible for the time being because I feel like I haven’t allowed myself breathing space. Thanks for your ongoing friendship and support and I look forward to reconnecting

Julie …. Your decision is understandable. Remember that you probably helped more people through your sharing than you realize. Meanwhile, time is a ultimate healer, so let it go its course and don’t challenge it! … so don’t forget to walk the beach.

  10. angelasommers says:

    Dear Julie,

I will surely miss you and your touching posts. Since you won’t be online then, I not only wish you a most wonderful New Year, but also a peaceful and Happy time on Anthony’s Birthday (which happens to be mine as well, and I am turning a proud 60 this year! 🙂 ) Even though he isn’t there in his body, his spirit is always with you, that much I do know.
Enjoy life and if you ever need a comforting word or a shoulder to cry on, I am always there…..lots of love!

    • jmgoyder says:

Hi Angela – hopefully by your birthday I will have recovered my mojo! I really appreciate your amazing moral support and btw I turn 59 in a couple of weeks so we are in synch!

      • angelasommers says:

Happiest of Birthdays dear Julie! I know you will recover from your depression, and pray you will have a most beautiful and fulfilling life! You are helping so many people through your blog, me being one of them, so know that you are awesome!

  11. Lisa Rest says:

I am clicking the albeit imaginary “love and peace” button. I hope writing the blog was as good for you as it was for all of us.

  12. tersiaburger says:

I understand. I went through exactly the same emotions after Vic died. I never blog anymore because i cannot bear to write the same words and emotions. Go well my friend and heal. Much love!

    • jmgoyder says:

This means a lot to me, Tersia. I have such huge admiration of what you have achieved since Vic died and I hope to become more positive soon. You are such a great example. I shouldn’t be feeling so low as Ants died old whereas Vic died young. The fact that you have written about this terribleness is, in itself, an act of such courage, I am in awe.

  13. tootlepedal says:

I hope that time and life will allow you to resume blogging at some stage in the future as I have always enjoyed your writing however heart rending the subject matter has been. You carry our good wishes with you into the years to come.

  14. I hope after some time away you will feel like returning to us

  15. judyrutrider says:

Unlike “good-bye” which says the end, “aloha” says perhaps again. Aloha, dear friend. There are better days ahead.

  16. Wishes and prayers for a good year!
