Unsubscribing from so many blogs
Was more than just a little slog
But it got me out of a substantial bog
Thank God
And now I look at an empty inbox
That flickers with the eyes of a fox
That mocks me like a jack-in-the-box
Odd socks
What to do with all this time?
I had no idea I was in such a bind
I must have been completely blind
In kind
Caring has its penalties
It sometimes obscures the beautiful trees
And all those blogs – they spoke to me
To me
So now I start all over again
Subscribing to a chosen ten
And visiting all the rest of them
There’s always a when
It got too hard, this bloggingdom
It started to be a large kingdom
But a place where I always found wingdom
And wisdom
So I decided to taper it off
Begin again and save the cost
Of too many minutes of my time lost
Become my own boss
I will visit my blogroll friends when I can
Instead of losing who I am
Instead of being this little lamb
Who doesn’t know he can’t
Do everything
love it Julie
Thanks!
You’re a clever little cookie!
And you are a quick little biscuit!
I’m with you, all the way. I’ll just add that I have another little rule of thumb. I’ve given up reading the blogs that are nasty, angry or boring. Who needs that? 😉
I’ve seen a couple of nasties and some borings but not that many – I get scared when I see any nasty stuff and I feel sorry for the boring stuff.
I’ve seen only one nasty in three years; I consider myself very lucky.
I’ve been lucky too – have heard some horror stories though!
Ahhhh and the poet emerges…..
Oh dear it wasn’t that good but oh well!!!
Haha, now you have plenty of time for writing funny poetry! Feels good, doesn’t it?
Yes!
Haha! Very good, my Downunder Friend! Well, if I’m not on your favored list, I’ll live. 🙂 I know whatcha mean, though. Time is just sucked up! Going back to Dallas for the weekend and another graduation.
Yes you are – I just can’t find the subscribe button on your blog!
There should be a follow flag somewhere on the screen. Thrill! Thanks!
Haha – thrillingly yours! Thanks – Jx
This was fabulous Jules. Says so much in such a fun way. I don’t follow nearly as many blogs as you did – but since many are poetry, I do spend a crazy amount of time reading posts… so will have to consider doing something similar to you. It is such a balancing act. I think you made a good call. Hope things are stable by you…sending good thoughts your way! xo
that was some great reading. I am not usually caught into poetry these days, but yours is really great! Thank you. Enjoy enjoying the trees! 🙂
Thank you very much!!!
Don’t feel bad, there are a lot of wonderful blogs out there but you can’t read them all. Just read them when you have some time, some of them you can stay up with with just a weekly or semi-weekly visit. I had 2 blogs I enjoyed reading and the author of these 2 blogs finally got overwhelmed by the whole blogging experience and they just quit! You have to have balance in life, so don’t have any regrets about not reading everyones blog who reads you. You are doing a wonderful job writing your blog as you can see by your blog stats of 33,000! There is no way you could read all those blogs every day! I can remember when you first started, and you said this blog was for you and your family, so do it however you need to do it for YOURSELF.
Thank you so much for this wonderful reassurance. I wish your homestead were closer, then we could exchange views over the fence! I think your blog is great!
You are amazing dear Julie… 🙂 Just I want to say I love my beautiful blogger friend, have a nice day, love, nia
Love to you too Nia – it’s nearly bedtime here so please have a lovely day! Julie
You are welcome dear Julie, have a nice sleep and wake to a nice day, Love, nia
You are a gem!
Hi,
Very well said, and very true, it is impossible to do everything. 🙂
I put you on my blogroll so I can check up on you – is that ok?
Of course, I appreciate the thought.
Ahaha! This is great, Jules
Thx!
Sheesh! Did you blow me off too? I have 3500 emails and I’m close to doing what you did… I’m losing sleep over it, man. I love everyone but there is one of me and I have a life outside of blogging… Oy vey! 😆
3500 emails!!! argh! No, I just unsubscribed and am now resubscribing to an amount I can manage.
Do the blogroll thing?
I have a blogroll page offline but it’s not effective for me. I’m thinking about it and might try a version of your approach. 😉
It took me awhile to copy/paste everyone’s urls into the blogroll but was well worth it!
I know but it was fun to do until now… 🙂
Very clever and not a bad idea. I too dread opening the inbox…I do it in the morning, and when everything has been dealt with, I feel lighter….then check it 30 minutes later and another 5 pages has shown up! Oy Vey. I think you are onto something here Jules.

Blogroll is a great tool – that way I can still keep in touch with everyone but not daily.
As I’m sure in and of itself, unsubscribing was a challenge. When I have time though, I believe I will do the same. it’s a good idea.
Yes it did take quite a bit of time but worth it!
lovely prose! See how we get hooked?
BTW – I’m on a mission to help people get healthier with Kangen Water! I know your family has challenges. Please visit: http://www.ultrakangenh2o.com/
Blessings to you and family.

Thank you!
To follow or not to follow? That is the question. This is the answer. Writers write.
Very wise.
We still love you Jules…. and I have work inbox overload myself. I can’t seem to get to my projects for all the requests I get from my staff. I’m thinking a haitus from email for a couple hours a day is a great idea. So.. Cheers to you!!! I know you will be there for us all still. r
Oh I remember the work emails (from when I worked at the uni.) Thx for the reassurance!
I’m sure it’s nice to have some time back. Good for you!
Obviously I can relate, hence my absence. But I love your blog and am catching up! Words of wisdom, love the poem!
Thanks – I need to catch up on yours too – just got a bit overwhelmed by so many bloggers!
I know, I’m suffering the same fate. Then when life encroaches, well, it’s not pretty!
So true!
