If the power goes out you can always catch up on your ironing. Oh, no. That won’t work. Well, watch some TV till it comes on again. No, can’t do that either. How about baking some comfort food? No? Not if it’s an electric range.
How often do we flip the light switch when the power is out? We’re so used to having it. I hate being without the computer most of all. No, that’s second. In our case the most important thing we need the electricity for is to pump water from our well. We always keep a big jug of water on hand in case of emergency. I hope you don’t lose your power.
Me either. Just trying to sound like I’m a good housewife – hahaha. Ironing? What’s that? My mother-in-law asked to use my iron the other day and I had to run all around the house looking for where I had put it a few years ago. 😉
Ha! America may be permanently incapacitated; Obama signed Exec Order for him to take complete control over everything, including the electric. Pray for America. If we can’t turn things around, I’ll miss ice and air conditioning the most. God help us.
It’s nothing you want a part of. Our “president” is moving us toward Marxism/Communism – and fast. The news reports every day are sounding more alarms. Half the people know what’s going on, and the other half don’t want to know. They want the free government hand-outs (my tax dollars) without having to work and make any kind of contribution to our country.
Ok….sorry. Didn’t mean to start something. Be careful of where you get your news from. Our major media is in bed with Obama.
Just to clarify, dcwisdom. I’ve posted recently as to looking at property on foreign soil, just in case Romney (by some amazing miracle or illegal manipulation) wins. Sorry, I guess I’m one of the 47% of “losers”, trying to survive on disability payments (60% of my prior salary) while also trying not to lose my house. I didn’t plan on becoming disabled, but voting for Obama seems the only way I may remain housed. Not to mention the numerous disabled vets created by the Republicans wars, they also have been labeled as “losers” on the government dole.
(Sorry, Julie, about the mini hijack. Comments like dc’s just infuriate me. I’ll take this to my blog now.)
If you get a chance to see it on the web on Hulu, my cousin is the young character of the main character “Morgan Henkleman” , she plays a young Charile.
When we were on the farm the kids used to love it when the electricity went out because we’d all sit together and play games – they’re grown up now, so they’d probably hate it 😀
It’s the storm that causes all this … it can be cozy for a couple of hours max – but after that isn’t that fun anymore. I really hope it’s solved for you.
Here’s my solution: I have four battery powered lanterns that have fluorescent tubes in them. You can light either one or two tubes, and one of them puts out enough light for a whole room You certainly can write by one, and read by two. Because they take big batteries they’re a bit costly to outfit, but during our last hurricane, each of them lasted through two weeks. Marvelous! And if there’s not weather and no air conditioning, they don’t heat up a room any more than it already is.
oh no!! Great post though —- get those candles out!xo
Oh where did I put them?

Your mention of ironing made me laugh – I haven’t ironed for years – ha!

I know the feeling. We often get it here.

Saw your earlier post but, as I have no real idea about what is happening over there, I can’t comment with any nouse.
You’re blessed. I might just have to move there to get away from Obama if he’s re-elected. We’re praying he won’t be. He’s bad news!
You have me interested in looking up what is going on over there!

Not sure where this is going…?

I haven’t gotten to dcwisdom’s comment yet!
Sorry – just realized I had already seen previous comment. I will have to bow out of this discussion!
We lost our electricity twice this week. I hate losing my computer the most. Pisses me off 😉
I’m the same!
Did you watch “Revolution” the other day. The very idea of it, scares the crap out of me.
I haven’t even heard of it!
It is about all the power going out all over the world. It was on Fox 8.
We don’t get Fox – I will have to google this!
If you get a chance to see it on the web on Hulu, my cousin is the young character of the main character “Morgan Henkleman” , she plays a young Charile.
Is there a link?
I’m looking and will send it to you….:)
NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Light the candles!
When we were on the farm the kids used to love it when the electricity went out because we’d all sit together and play games – they’re grown up now, so they’d probably hate it 😀
I have found candles, matches and torches but electricity is still okay – yeeha!
Thank goodness for that 😀
I am about to email you but if it doesn’t get through the electricity has definitely gone off – ha!
No problems! Thank you for letting me know 🙂
There’s nothing for it but to lie on the lawn and look up at the stars (with a bottle of Shiraz to keep the toes warm)
Good idea!
Uh, oh. Hope you didn’t lose your power. That would stink. Happy Weekend to you my bloggy friend.
You too!
Good Luck, Julie!!!!!!
I love my modern day conveniences. The “good, old days” didn’t have dishwashers. Hang in there! Hope you “see the light” soon.
Oh dear!!
Hoping you don’t lose your power Julie. Hang in there! 🙂
All okay today!
It’s the storm that causes all this … it can be cozy for a couple of hours max – but after that isn’t that fun anymore. I really hope it’s solved for you.
So the storm hit after all. How is the ant-infested tree holding up?
Wind still bad but not too much damage – phew!
well at least you are not worried about being turned off because you did not pay your bill!
That is a good point!

Great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With the cost of electricity now days many people feel they may lose it because they can’t afford to pay the bill……………..not me but many people
Yes and the cost is huge now!
We are so dependent on it, aren’t we?
