Hellishly hot

on December 30, 2012

DSCN1777
This is our sixth day of 40C degree heat and incredibly high humidity and I have somehow contracted the flu. Ming (on L plates) took me in to the doctor who has put me on antibiotics and cortisone so I am ecstatic to have something to fight the kind of flu that usually leads to asthma and hospital. Then we went to see Ants but I stayed at a slight distance because I don’t want him to get it. I sat on his bed and held his hand in an outstretched way, trying to breathe my germs in the other direction and we only stayed a short time. Ants kept telling me to go home and get well, and that I was beautiful; he said both of these things a few times!

Oh it’s too hot to write any more! The photo is of Ants with some of my family at our Christmas dinner the other evening.

Sorry to hear you are unwell Julie.
Hope you improve soon – I know the scorching high temperatures don’t help, one little bit.

Take care and get plenty of rest & water to rehydrate (says Dr V).

Other than a couple of hot days at the end of this coming week, it is pleasantly sunny with cool breezes over here in Melbourne (but then February is always our hottest month).

Haven’t been out though – trying to do all the indoor chores on the ‘to do’ list.

I swear that ‘to do’ list keeps getting longer each day (instead of shorter as I cross the items off).

Lucky you with such nice weather. It’s mild in the UK but very windy and wet.

Hope you feel better soon. Glad to hear Ant was in good spirits when you went to visit him.

I always associate the flu season with cold weather. I guess it just goes around once a year no matter the weather? Or did you just get unlucky and found the only flu virus left in your off season? I do hope you will be well soon and avert the asthma!

Julie, no better time to have a cold or a flue than when it’s hot outside – it means that you will keep it forever *smile – only good thing with flue bacterial is that they don’t like hot weather – they only multiply in colder temperatures.
I really feel for you. Poor thing. Too hot for me too.

Summer flu is the absolute pits! Get well soon. Bedrest is the only remedy.

  20. I was thinking of you only last night when I was watching the weather…………….it has been bloody hot there. It is pretty hot here today just had to turn the air con on as it was getting hot in the house. How is Anthony coping with the heat? What a great photo

Julie, Ming was wise to get you to the doctor soonest, and you were equally wise, putting a little distance between you and Ants, hopefully keeping the germs at bay. BTW 40C is friggin hot, but it was nice to see your family together like that for Christmas. Take care, Bill

  23. ewe…,, dislike hot weather and colds/flu. at the same time. How do you get comfortable? I feel for Jules.I hope the medications have begun their things nd you are feeling better.

I am glad for you that there was a course of good medicine they could give, I hate hearing, “Oh its viral, you’ll have to let it run its course”.
Really? Of course it does, Much prefer to know there is something proactive I can do.

    Take care Jules.~

  26. While I lived in Arizona for many years it is hard to imagine celebrating Christmas in that kind of heat!
