Yesterday afternoon, around 12 of our friends and relatives arrived here at 5pmish to see Anthony. I had ordered the wheelchair taxi to pick him up at 4.30 from the nursing lodge so, by 5.30, I was wondering why he hadn’t arrived.
Long story short (after I made numerous phone-calls) it turned out that the taxi had arrived early and didn’t wait so, by the time a nurse had Ants outside in a wheelchair, it was too late.
When I got to speak to Ants on the phone (6pm), there was a bit of a party happening here but with the star missing. The disappointment in his voice was devastating for me because I had organized it all for him and the stupid mis-timing of the taxi wrecked it.
I was supposed to leave for my little holiday this morning, but have decided to go this evening instead because I must see Ants first.
that is terrible, why didn’t the taxi wait
I don’t know – this is now the 3rd taxi mishap.
that is just plain wrong!! wrong!!
Give Anthony a big hug and I’m sure that he will be happy for your trip. I hope that you have a wonderful restful time.
I will, but haven’t told him about my little trip.
I understand completely. Enjoy your trip!!
I wondered about that too – why the taxi couldn’t wait or come back again.
Taxi people said he was a ‘no show’- argh.
OH! That’s a poor, poor, pathetic excuse.
Usually they would honk the horn or go in and ask, “Did someone call a taxi?” That’s what we would consider normal.
So sorry Julie ~ I hope once you see him, you feel ready to enjoy your get-away… and hopefully another gathering can happen for him soon after you return… xo R
You were feeling so good …I’m sorry things went awry… You’ve probably left by now….Hope you have (had) a good time away…even if shortened a little Diane
I’ve got caught out with a supposed ‘no show’ excuses from taxis before now, so I know how frustrating it can be. Many taxi drivers don’t like to wait around (if their passenger isn’t ready either). I’ve rung 3 & 4 times about finding where my taxi is and despite standing on an empty street corner for 15-20 mins before the pick-up time, have been told that “I wasn’t there when the taxi arrived”. I’ve had to cancel medical appmnts & re-schedule, and EVEN had to walk home with heavy shopping years ago when I couldn’t get a taxi and was ill.
I, personally, think the taxis in Australia, in general, only like times distances & passengers to fit in with them (instead of the other way around).
How disappointing for Anthony (as well as family & friends).
So sorry things didn’t work out so well. I wish I could say something to help ease your pain. I know I would’ve broke down and cried at the stupidity of it all. I hope you informed the taxi service how much the driver’s impatience caused you. Is there another way to bring Ants to visit, or do you need a specially equipped vehicle? I hope the next event goes much better.
i know anthony was sorry to miss the gathering and am sure you were disappointed as well. please don’t let this stop you from your get-away.
Bummer! I know, I am talking like a hippy, but such a let down after the plans. hope you have a good visit before leaving.have fun on your respite.!
How unfeeling and thoughtless! I hope it all works out for you – sounds like you really deserve a break.
Oh how tragic… and the taxi wouldn’t wait.?? the thoughtlessness of a driver….
What is it with the arrogance of taxi drivers? Do hope you did take off for that break.
Sorry for your disappointment with the taxi. I wish people would just do their job right the first time. I hope your trip goes well.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
By the time you read this, I hope you will have gotten a chance to see Ants and are now off on that much deserved break. Wishing you some time to enjoy Julie!
the best laid plans……so sorry about the disappointment
I want you to do me a favour–please have a nice time on your getaway–compartmentalize and put all your worries in a corner of your mind and try not to go there for a while
If any comfort … same this over here … they don’t wait, too overbooked and already have a new job waiting for them, they have so short time between the jobs – how sad really for the driver too. Especially cars that takes wheelchairs – not many for them around .. Terrible sad for those ones it happens. So sorry for you all missed out.
I hope you had a good visit with Ants and that you enjoy your mini retreat!
oh grief, that is so disappointing. Let’s only hope that the taxi driver had a really, really, really good reason. I am so very sorry, Julie.
I’ve noticed that taxis always arrive much too early, sometimes 15 or twenty minutes. It’s so annoying, and in Anthony’s case it spoiled the whole event and caused so much disappointment. Could the nurse not have phoned for another one? Enjoy your time away, Julie. *hugs*
This is just terrible, Julie.
This is awful! Damn taxi driver 😦
Oh, I am so sorry that happened. Yes, that was a thoughtless driver. Can you put in a complaint to the taxi company?
Ivonne
Bloody taxi mix up causing so much trouble and dissapointment for you and Anthony………..
Oh Jules, I’m so sorry. Poor Anthony.
What a convenient excuse for laziness on the driver’s part. He should have checked before he left.
XO, have a fun and safe trip, Julie!
Dreadful taxi for not even waiting a bit… Hope Ants and you are doing better.
