I have never before been so attentive to, and appreciative of, a single moment. Moments are much more pleasant than hours.
Anthony was taxied home this morning and, even though his 11am drug hadn’t quite kicked in, Ming and I managed to get him into the kitchen because it was too hot outside.
The three of us had a rollicking time with a little bit of champagne thrown in. Then Ming’s two best mates dropped in to see Ants. I knew Ming had invited them, but I was heartmelted that they bothered, these two amazing young men! Ants was delighted to see them and we all spent an hour or so, still in the kitchen, bantering, listening to Triple J, and eating vegemite on toast.
By this time Ants was just able enough to go for a drive with Ming in the new ute so the friends left and Ming took off with Ants. By this time Ming’s demeanor had altered from grinny to grumpy. By this time I knew I would have to order the taxi for 3pm, not 4pm, which I did.
Ming and Ants got back and I helped Ants out of the ute and walked him to a chair on the front veranda. He was okayish and suggested a beer! I went into the house to find Ming fuming that Ants had dribbled in the ute (drooling is common in Parkinson’s Disease). I bit back and we had a rather nasty altercation.
And then, just as I was about to join Ants on the veranda for a beer, a taxi arrived – one hour early – 2pm! The shock and disappointment was terrible for Ants and the only way I could make it okay was to say we’d do it again tomorrow.
So it was a bit of a mishmash of a day. On the other hand, the good moments far outweighed the yucky ones. And the best moment was when Ming made Anthony smile!
Anthony really looks good in the pictures – minus the strange absent look PPD patients take on. Looks great – so natural. Ming really looks like his dad.
It is almost impossible to get Ants to smile – mainly due to facial muscles not working very well – so it was a small miracle!
You’re having a shocking time with taxis out there! 😦
I’m glad Ants had a good time (for a while) and the pictures are lovely! 😀
Yes, the taxi thing is making me mad! Oh well, it all worked out okayish.
That’s special
Yes!
and nice pics 🙂
Ha!
you all do look happy in the photos … and such a shame the taxi was early… keep on keeping on Julie…
Will do, Bulldog.
Wonderul, Julie! I don’t need to tell you to cherish every one of those precious moments because you are already top of the class when it comes to finding those little gems, and polishing them to bring out their brightest facets 🙂
Oh thankyou – this is lovely.
and so true …
Yup.
So glad that despite the mishmash you were able to enjoy some lovely Australia Day moments together – the three of you.
Happy Day Julie xo
What a fantastic way of describing it – thankyou!
Talk about ‘highs’ and ‘lows’ for a day.
So lovely to see Anthony smile – seems like a small miracle in itself.
Happy Australia Day.
(hope it was as cool over there as it was in Melbourne – just lovely – for a change).

We have another heatwave coming – oh no!
Lovely pictures Julie,
Helen xx
It was a pretty good day all things considered!
It is the moments isn’t it? I would be disappointed too if I did not get my beer. Love your hair btw–it makes you look happy.
Ha! The fan was blowing right next to me.
🙂 So glad you all had a happy day. Love the photo of you and Anthony.
Thanks doudou!
I think that it’s the moments that keep you going, they are so much easier to remember than a whole big day and it is impossible to mar “a” moment, it’s exceptional in its singular perfection, just remember those perfect moments. They are far stronger than the ordinary ones. I love the pictures you look so beautiful in your happiness and MIng looks so much like his father. Wonderful pictures.:)
It was a better than expected collection of moments!
😀
Love the pictures and your post because I’m glad the good moments outweighed the bad. Also I love your kitchen floor. My dream kitchen has a B & W checkered floor with black counter tops, white cupboards with black trim and red appliances and accents and a 50’s style table with metal chairs with red seats!
Love your dream kitchen!
Want me to come over and we’ll do yours that way?! 😉
Yes please!
Handsome boy…and a striking copy of his Dad…
It’s funny – I can’t see the resemblance as much as other people can.
yes something of a clone … definately the Goyder stamp
You look so happy to have had Anthony home for a little while. 🙂
I was!
Causing a smile is always a special moment. Thanks for sharing!!!
Glad I caught it on camera!
I am so happy that you did recognize the moments instead of the hours. This is very good and you ended up having a better day from this. So glad you all had this time together even with a dribble
Yes, that moment thing really helped.
It seems as though all in all it was a wonderful day… Young people are so ‘protective’ when they get their own car …A good reminder for him would be all the times as a baby and young child … when he brought up or had sticky fingers he messed up your car (and home) but I guess acceptance of things like that come with more maturity than Ming’s age has right now….Diane
He is very finickety – like Ants actually!
Julie, Anthony is a very handsome man – he look so good on here, it looks like he has put some weight on. And the photo with Ming and Ant is so good. Sad to read about that the taxi turned up too early – isn’t it typical .. that when time goes well they are made shorter and when time is not great … it goes on forever.
Ming combed Anthony’s hair back for a new style – it was fun!
He looked smashing … I thought that is was something new about him.
Yes, it is the moments and not the hours that we live for.
I keep having to remind myself.
Julie, we take our victories both small and large as we get them. From all you said it was a great day, where the timing was off only slightly. Take care, Bill
I’m going to get those taxi people to get the timing right today!
All in all, it sounds like not a bad day.
Definitely!
Beautiful photos. And those perfect moments do mean everything! I’m so glad the day blessed the three of you with some. Seeing his dad smile is a priceless moment for Ming to carry with him too. ❤
So good!
The smile was so fleeting (due to facial muscles) but the happiness lasted!
So glad you were all able to spend some happy times together. You do seem to be suffering from early taxi arrivals these days. Do the drivers not have watches? 🙂 Lovely photos of the three of you, Julie.
The taxi thing is weird!
Very precious moments.
Mostly, yes!
It sounds like mostly a successful day, despite some rough spots. That was really sweet of Ming’s friends to join you!
That actually made the day!
It is these moments you need to hold onto when the days are like shit……………
Yep!
Your pictures put a smile on my face. He looked at ease today. I am sorry about the taxi service though.
(Blinking taxi drivers!)
I am now in taxi war ha!
Moments are better than hours, I agree. This is lovely.
Thanks – I know you know!
I think you know exactly hat I am talking about Jules!
There is no doubt in mind that you are getting this living in the moment down pat like I am.
You rock my soul that you are able to take away from the day what you did, but it is who you are.
I am proud that you call me friend Jules, I am proud that what you learn in life you turn around and share with us As in this day.
That you get up in your morning and put that gorgeous Jules smile on your face even for just one day would be astonishing, but I have been seeing you do it for close to two yrs 9can that be right? Almost 2 yrs?) anyway.. along time now and that you have a smile to share still is phenomenal.
Its coping and navigating through your life, refusing to give in to all that tries to take you down. It has no idea who they are messing with, you are a force to reckoned with to be sure.
zAnd so glad you are on my sid eof life ~ I heart you Jules ~ Your CC/BB
If I had an ounce of your courage, determination, good will, BB, I would be so proud of myself. CC, YOU ARE AMAXING!!!
Oh sweetie you do, you just do not now it I know without even having to question what i think that your beloved Ants would agree .
I am borrowing this blow from the heart of another amaXing soul who speaks our language.
“Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”
~ Said Christopher Robin to Pooh”
…and then Pooh took me aside and said: “Baroness; kindly please share this with Jules, she so needs to be told this truism about herself, She needs to believe ”
Check Pooh, Done deal!. 😉
No wonder I adore you! I can’t thank you enough BB!
like I said before… I so heart you Jules!

First of all, I’m so sorry to read that your husband is diagnosed with Parkinsons. It must be such a precious time having him home for a little while.
It’s good to mark good times like this – neat to see Ants smile 🙂
Touching moments. 😉
