Ah the joy of it! Cycling along country roads in the hurricane-like winds gentle autumn breeze, magpies dive-bombing your head birds twittering, the sun burning a hole in your back shining, farm trucks zooming violently past and carrying you along in their terrifying slipstreams gently idling past you, cows escaping yards and galloping towards you mooing quietly in the paddocks, children laughing at you smiling and waving – yes, pure joy!
Oh my gosh I laughed myself right of the chair
I wasn’t joking – ha!
JULES! Thank you for the laughs. Fantastic!
I didn’t anticipate the truck thing!
scary.
Hilarious, Julie.
(I just hope you had your bike helmet on when those farm trucks gently idled past you and also hope you had sunblock on with the sun and gentle breeze blowing onto your face).
Ha – yes I have the helmet but I nearly wore it backwards the first time!
You forgot the dogs viciously trying to bite your ankles as you’re pedaling at a breakneck pace uphill. Yes, it happened to me once. Unfortunately.
Poor you!
Welcome to my world except we don’t have sunshine very often- it must be nearly 10 years since it burned a hole in my back haha! We should be so lucky.
Great that you’ve got out on the road. Well done
Getting there!
You are bloody awesome
I don’t think so!
At last!
I’ve been riding it up and down the long gravel driveway until now – the road is scary!
Haha, thanks for making me laugh out loud! I’m glad to see you haven’t lost your sense of humor one bit. Sounds like you’re ready for another bike ride tomorrow. π
I need a rear vision mirror!
Oh, I think you need more than that. Like a bigger bike…
You are too funny! It sounds like an exciting ride.
Traumatic!
Ah, the pleasures of country living!
Yes indeed – ha!
Well done! How did you cope with the bike? Is it getting any easier?
Much better now!
What a picture you describe….Diane
Glad noone had a camera.
Too funny, Julie. Thanks!
It wasn’t funny at the time!
Laughing…sounds like you’re off and running Julie!
It’s a start.
Hehe – the joys of (PS if you wear a helmet, you can tie cable ties to it (like spikes) to keep the magpies away)
If you say so!
ha ha – well done! you have described it perfectly
Ha! I am still recovering!
when we were kids it did not bother us– now we see it for what it is–taking our life in our hands
ha! You make me want to run out and buy another bike! hehehe
I wish I had a cycling companion!
Oh Julie I think it would be awesome to ride through the country side with you!
I see that you have entered the spirit of cycling wholeheartedly. I must warn you that sometimes it is not quite so enjoyable as you make it seem.
I didn’t realise I’d be so timid on the road!
It won’t take you long to build up confidence.
Julie, What a great post, I am so glad I didn’t have to read between the lines. But the point I would make is that your out there, you are cycling, and your doing better and better. Take care, Bill
I’m a bit gutless but getting there!
This was a definite laugh out loud post!
I wasn’t laughing at the time!
pure joy, indeed π
Hmmm!
My favorite post yet! I’m laughing with you!
Oh – thanks!
Oh my lordy, lordy. That was so funny, I couldn’t stop laughing. You are a treasure Jules!
It’s more complicated than I realized!
You made me laugh too…. But there is more than this now,
– My love,…
– yes Nia
– I want to say something…
– yes dear, I am listening
– Can I go to Australia?
– what did you give up to go to Alaska and Himalaya?
– no, but now this would be so nice
– why?
– because I want to ride a bike with dear Julie in there?
– :(((((((((((((((((((((
I love you dear Julie, be sure I am with you, but pls be careful too π Thank you for this nice sharing, love, nia
Come on over – see you tomorrow, Nia?
π you are the best Julie ~ hysterical!! xo β€
The Γ§ountryside is not what it used to be!
Yeahhhh, I am so happy you were able to get out in the fresh air, feel the freedom as the gentle winds blow through your hair and nostrils……………Yeah!
Nostrils – yeah right! Hayfever is the pits isn’t it.
Glad to hear you are out on your bike- and a hilarious read.I can relate.Oh yes, the smell of fresh air as you suck in diesel fumes riding amongst traffic.
Exactly!
Laughing my butt off, Julie. So glad you are able to look on the bright side. {{{Hugs}}} kozo
The bright side is getting home in one piece!
Love this! Isn’t exercise wonderful?
Sort of!
Beautiful! Good for you for getting onto the road. Be careful, it sounds like there are many hidden and obvious dangers in bike riding.
Terrifying!
Honest to goodness – just funny. And isn’t it the case that every one of us could write a similarly structured paragraph about a whole number of things? Dinner with the inlaws. The lunch with the boss. The pleasures of meeting a deadline. Etc., ad nauseum. π
Yes – so right!
Hahahahahaaa! Julie, I understand completely. π Though you have managed to make it far more humorous than it often feels to me. π
The trucks are the worst aspect!
They most certainly are! π―
LOL π
There’s my laughter for the day!
