20th wedding anniversary!

on March 28, 2013

Yesterday was our 20th wedding anniversary and Anthony forgot.

So did I.

[Actually, we always forget for some reason but I thought ‘So did I’ was a rather good punchline – ha!]

My mother usually reminds us but she’s in hospital and will be for some time. It was only when I was collecting stuff from her house to take into the hospital that I saw her note – ‘March 27-Ants & Julie anniversary’.

Ants is coming home for the day tomorrow – Good Friday – and I’m not sure whether to tell him about our anniversary or not because it might make him a bit sad and nostalgic.

20 years! Aren’t I supposed to get some sort of present?

[Note to other bloggers – I am having difficulty keeping up with your posts and comments – will catch up asap.]

Dearest, I forget too, sometimes one month earlier I celebrate πŸ™‚ or almost gone… But the most important part should be the love between man and woman. And I know you are there both in such a great love. My best wishes for your mother dear, I hope she gets well soon. Blessing and Happiness, love, nia

And please don’t worry about getting to my blog. I’m happy just whenever you show-up. You have so many followers it must be neigh impossible to keep up with them all. So, no worries, ok?

  5. Happy Anniversary! I would say don’t tell him.
Traditionally the present is china (cups, plates etc) so maybe treat yourself to something? Hope the visit goes well tomorrow.

Happy Anniversary to you and Ant. I think your present will be Ant’s presence at home. πŸ™‚ Enjoy, and of course have a little celebration together.

Julie, Happy Belated Anniversity. I know you and Ants celebrate as you can. And to echo what Rhonda said yes “so did I” was a great punch line. Heck my wife could/has used it LOL. Take Care, Bill

there is such a comfort and security with that many years together. we find a difference in our celebration too. i thought to myself, wow someone else who celebrates every day of marriage rather than once a year. it is a bit like valentine’s day. if you celebrate loving each other once a year it is great but what about just celebrating love every day?

happy anniversary to you and anthony! sorry your mom is still in hospital. now go out and do what will give you the most joy to celebrate, not 20 yrs but a life time of love!

  17. Happy Anniversary Jules!!!! I agree with Rhonda, go out and buy yourself something special to celebrate the milestone. You are so funny, “so did I”. I hope that your mother is doing okay in the hospital, I know that she broke a few bones but if she is anything like my mother, she may be getting restless. Thinking of you πŸ™‚

  21. Happy Anniversary. Ithink you should tell him… but it’s your call. love ya,

  22. Kozo says:

Happy Anniversary, Julie. Just give Ants a big hug so he knows it is a special time.

  23. Happy Anniversary. Your relationship with Anthony is a rare achievement, especially in this day and age.

Cap’n Firepants’ mother forgot his birthday this month. She still hasn’t remembered, and he doesn’t have the heart to tell her. He is her only child.

  24. shoreacres says:

Blessings to you – an anniversary is an anniversary no matter who remembers it! Enjoy!

  25. Robyn Lee says:

Oh Julie ~ we also forget a lot! 25 years (I think).. I hope you two can have some good time together … that will be a present in itself I am sure. Also hope Mom is doing ok! How sweet that you saw that reminder at her house… Happy Anniversary dear friend ~ x RL

  26. Happy Anniversary!! Your gift is another day with your loved ones, the memories that you made together and the ones you will make today. Your gift is the sun on your face, the breeze in your hair, the gentle caress of the loving beings who are there with you, holding you up when you need support. Your gift is the eternal song in your heart that you can hear in the quiet times of your day. Listen and give yourself a big hug for all the love that you have given to others. Today that love is returned to you 10-fold. Namaste.

  27. Haha, well, that takes all the pressure away! Happy anniversary to the two of you. πŸ™‚

  28. Trisha says:

I hope you can have a little celebration when Anthony comes home tomorrow, whether you tell him or not. Happy anniversary!

  30. Celebrate it now! We always do something for our anniversary, but often can’t on the exact day. So we set one aside that works for us and celebrate it with style. It’s still special and deserves – as do you – a little attention. Congratulations.

Hope your Mum is all better soon Jules ❀ Hugs to u both on your special day too πŸ™‚ Mind u any day is a special day i think, with robbo always working away, we celebrate lots of stuff, whenever we can, rarely on the exact day! Happy Easter to you all, and Ming too, have fun and stay safe if you guys are travelling xx

  32. Congratulations on your twenty years. I think it s your china wedding anniversary and you should receive some new china (or treat yourself to some,).

  33. Judith says:

Hope you have a great Good Friday together and a wonderful, happy anniversary. My husband and I went out to a restaurant for our anniversary in August and had a flat tire coming home. Pulled into a truck stop and changed it together. Guess celebrations aren’t sacred:)

  34. Hope you both found happiness today, Juliexxx

  35. WordsFallFromMyEyes says:

‘So did I’ is a good punchline, yes … but not funny 😦 I’d want to be remembering every year because it is really, really special. Congrats to you: 20 years. Magnificent togetherness, well glued πŸ™‚

  36. bluebee says:

How funny. We always forget ours and my mum and a friend in the UK always remind us. πŸ™‚

  37. bluebee says:

PS Happy Anniversary to you both

  38. Congratulations! Yes, you should get some sort of gift, or at least a card. Husband and I when money was tight (which was often) would go to the drug store and read Anniversary cards to each other, but not buying any.
