“Reject” is the name Anthony gave a steer whose mother had rejected him at birth, and who Ants raised by hand. When he was little, this steer loved Ants so much that he would run at him, jump up and try to hug him around the neck with his two front legs.

  1. It’s lovely that you can share the real Anthony with us.

What a name! A reject and ant? Thank goodness for people like, no longer a reject.

  3. Touching I love those kinds of stories…Diane

Looks a great place to live – no noisy neighbours, unsightly buildings in the background and plenty of animals around.

Julie, These touching minets of your knowledge and relationship with Anthony make so many of use wish ours were like that. Ants is an amazing man and you an amazing woman. Thank your for sharing this moment. — Bill

  6. What a great story. And how twisty that story is, a steer who is rejected by his mother, named “Reject” by the man who will raise him and love him and not reject him. I’m so glad you learned to use the scanner!

  7. enjoying your walk down memory lane

  8. It’s a lovely gift that you give us, snapshots of your life together before Parkinson’s. I have a beautiful image of a young cow enthusiastically showing Anthony love, it is too cute.:)

i love all your photos but i have to admit the one with Ants with his arm around Reject is my favorite

  10. Tearing up over here. That’s my kinda human being. You know I’m an animal freak… I love your son’s little hand reaching out to his friend while Ants holds me so lovingly and the expression on his face in that last photo, pure contentment. Am sure his fury friend felt the same. Very grateful when I get to be a fly on the wall for this kind of love.

  11. Reblogged this on The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap and commented:
Yesterday, I reblogged the song, The Prayer, and wrote it was dedicated to my cyber friend and her family. Today she posted a photo with a story under it that moved me to tears. I feel a little like an intruder sharing this but it says “reblog” on the page and so I will because this is the kind of love the world needs to see more of. This beautiful man with his son and adopted Steer family, named “Reject”. My heart is with Julie and her beloved Ants as they journey through a rough patch.

Now that sounds familiar… I raised a few by hand on the farm… not sure if they thought I was a cow or they were human…lol

  18. Ouch! I can’t imagine a bovine hug being very comfortable. Cute story – I love the sense of humour that shows in his name.

Sounds funny, but dangerous! Love your photos, Julie!

  20. Glad the rejection was only the name of a steer and you were not being rejected…………..
