Twenty years ago….

on January 5, 2014

Twenty years, nine hours and forty seven minutes ago I gave birth to a funny, round-headed, thin-limbed creature called Ming. Happy birthday, beautiful boy-man! Anthony and I love you very much.

It’s apparent how much you love your son. I adore my two sons and daughter. The birth of a child connects our soul with their flesh. It is a depth of love that can take your breath away. Julie, you are definitely breathless!!!!

  2. Terry says:

    Happy Birthday Ming!!!!!!

One of the great joys in life is the birth of a child. How lucky you are to not only have Ming’s presence in your lives, but to have celebrated his life each day with unconditional love.

Hope it continues well into the future – he is such a precious gift (and hope his Birthday is a good one too).

His party is coming up (70 kids – yikes!) May I hide at your place?

        Too late, Julie.
The Party’s on & the hordes are coming.
Hope you all have a great time.
Hopefully it’s cooler over your side of Oz than it is here – summer’s well & truly arrived in Melbourne this week (& next).

  4. Happy birthday to Ming.

  5. Happy Birthday Ming!

  6. Bet it doesn’t feel like twenty years, I know it is hard at times to think my youngest is now 24, hope he had a great day

A very happy birthday Ming ! Your Mum’s blog paints you as a fallen saint and her as a dishevelled protagonist, but as much as I would like to ‘Black Books’ you both..it is unfortunate, as I see you as both far from dysfunctional. Congratulations on kicking shit through a horrible situation ( only Queens have horribilus annuses). Live long and prosper, and don’t read Spock. With love, your Meg’s surrogate tag along, David

It has taken me awhile to get to the comments on the infamous Ming’s birthday blogpost and now finally I am doing so! Thanks David, not just for this, but for being Meg’s surrogate ‘tag along’ – ps. I actually thought you were spam for a sec. haha! Love to you all.

All children are special to their moms but there is a connection between mothers and sons that most definitely cannot be denied. I know that connection well. Happy Birthday to Ming. xo dale..Brandon’s Mom

Thank you Dale – so so much. In light of your loss of Brandon, I am in tears that you acknowledged Ming. No words suffice. With love – Julie.

Happy birthday from Texas, Ming! If I could, I’d send you some proper barbeque and some fine bock ale, but I suspect you’ll find a way to celebrate anyhow!

What a wonderful photo! And interestingly enough, a couple of years ago when I began blogging it was just before my younger son’s birthday. So when his day arrived I used the exact same title 🙂 . Aren’t we so proud of our wonderful man-boy’s? Hugs to you, Gina

  25. Ann Koplow says:

  26. A belated happy birthday to Ming. Sons are so special, aren’t they? Love the photo. 🙂

Ming’s a Capricorn! So are my mom, one of my writing friends, and my husband. I’m partial to that sign:)
