My mother, Meg, and I made the trip down south to see her fourth newly born great-grandchild/my second great-niece. This entailed several hours of driving; we all wish we lived closer – oh well.
When we finally got to the hospital and the new baby was in my mother’s arms, my first nephew, Jared (the father), quietly announced that their little girl’s middle name would be ‘Meg’. My mother’s eyes filled up with tears and so did mine and all of ours! There was a great deal of happy emotion in that hospital room with lots of laughs too. For my youngest brother, who I won’t name because he prefers privacy, this beautiful little girl is his first grandchild.
I’m so grateful for this ever-increasing family. It is impossible now to keep up with every single nephew, niece, sister-in-law, nephew-in-law etc. etc. so I probably haven’t been such a wonderful aunt/great-aunt. But Meg is amazing! She knows every single child’s birthday, wedding dates for all of us, significant occasions etc.
Meg.
So beautiful.
oh, what a wonderful surprise! happy for all of you )
Well done both of you for making that long drive to catch up with newest member of the family. I think that family is so important and feel very sorry for those who have few or no family members.
Heartwarming.
I love when you write about your mom – she is so amazing with her vitality and memory. I know you treasure her. Hope you are feeling better, Julie.
Wow! That is quite a beautiful lineage.
Congratulations. This is so beautiful photograph. Blessing and Happiness to you All, Thank you dear Julie, Love, nia
Wonderful!
Your second great-niece how wonderful, I have 4 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews, it is an honour when a child is named after us, my nephew Tyler was named after me his middle name is Joe, and my niece Tina is named after me in that her mum insisted that Tina be spelt that way as my middle name is Nita.
What a gem your Mother is!
I daresay my own Mother was always good at remembering dates because she grew in an era of no computers, tv, or any other sort of technology.
(BTW I managed to open this post this morning. Couldn’t last night and have had trouble on/off for weeks. Also a UK & US blog which is a mystery to me).
I was watching this show on TV about the brain and they were doing this new test on patients with dementia and music and how it helps the patients come out of their shell because music is connected to so many different parts of the brain. They start to become calmer and remember things they’ve forgotten. I’m not sure if you’ve heard about it? What with you studying it all and what not but I thought perhaps next time you visit you could put some songs on you know he likes and see what happens?
Love
Yes and have been doing – thank you xxx
Oh! Hope it is helpful 🙂
Babies are so precious and a reminder of how things can be new or better, or thankful
