Two days ago I had an epiphany and, since then, I have felt an almost overwhelming sense of relief!
You see, despite the fact that my weight has been a fairly steady 70 kgs for about 10 years (I’m “5’10”), I’ve had an ongoing wrestling match with my size 12 jeans for some time now (which may explain my Herculean upper half but let’s not go there).
The epiphany was this: You should be wearing size 14 jeans, you dimwit!
So I went out and bought a pair of cheap size 14 jeans and I am in HEAVEN! I can breathe! My stomach roll has disappeared! I no longer have to jump from the roof into my jeans!
And it only entailed a slight psychological shift – a numbers thing – what an idiot I’ve been! Oh I haven’t been this happy (and comfortable) for years! I LOVE size 14!
LOL. I’ve always worn baggy jeans so I feel skinny
Oh, okay – yes that does make sense to me – wonderful!
Oh, the bliss of acceptance 😉
Yeeeesssssssss!
🙂
It’s not that joyous – haha!
Much easier remedy than continuing to squeeze into the 12’s, though I admit, it is often difficult to make myself buy a larger size.
Alas!
I’m speechless, Julie.
Since I’ve been wearing ‘larger sizes’ and elastic waistbands etc, I never have to worry about ‘stomach roll’ ever again.
One of the joys of being a wee bit older, (or over 55), is that one can wear whatever one likes.

Your Big Grins always make my day/night, Vicki!
haha! Love this story!
That’s only because you’re not a size 14!
That made me laugh out loud – especially the bit about jumping from the roof!
It was a bit like that!
yup been there done that!! 🙂 And it feels so comforting! hugs and luv to u xx 🙂
Who are you, Anonymous?
Only a woman would take this long to awake to such an error…lol.. don’t get cross now Julie…
Oh Bulldog, you are in real trouble now – haha! Jx
Aren’t epiphanies great sometimes!
Wonderful!
Good for you ….. I know we women we don’t want to buy bigger sizes than we normally do .. but the makes change in sizes too – and still we force ourselves into something far too small and our bodies change too, even if we haven’t put on weight. The gravity .. you know.
I can’t stop laughing now – gravity? You are such a gem, Viveka!
A number adjusted. L O V E. I T
I have always wanted to be petite like you!
Best. Post. Ever.
Love it!
Thanks, my young hero!
Julie you crack me up. I cut the size tag off if it offends me!
That’s a fantastic idea but why are you Anon.?
I’m glad you’re breathing freely again!
Love this post. 🙂

Ha – I’ll have to try dresses!
I thought everyone knew that the manufacturers have been altering the sizes over the years so they have got smaller and smaller. These days a 14 is exactly the same as a 12 was ten years ago.
WHY?
many people change weight as their metabolism changes through getting older. I think size 14 is a wonderful size!!!!! I am happy for you that you are in comfort now
Me too!
I understand. Totally. Have not arrived at your sensible conclusion yet.
That’s because you are younger and littler lol!
no – I am just immature — I am older than you dear friend–but thanks for thinking I am younger–you made my day! (btw–I refuse to wear anything bigger than a 10 (Cdn size) which means I go naked a lot (lol)
Love this! I hate jeans that are tight around my waist. I recently went shopping for new ones, no clue what size I wore because the cut of each style is so different. Just took an armload into the dressing room…
You are a lot more sensible than me!
Love this so very much!
I got rid of my size 12 jeans today – 4 pairs!
WOOT WOOT! 🙂
Good for you!
I like my jeans a little looser because it feels more comfortable. I can wear a size smaller, but I don’t like the feeling like I can’t breath.
I was so determined to remain size 12 – ridiculous!
!!!! 🙂
Stop laughing – ha!
Yay, you are a teenager again. It is tough getting past those tween numbers like 12, but 14 is so much more mature. Congrats. {{{hugs}}} Kozo
That’s a relief!

Good for you. You may be heavier than you like (who of us isn’t?), it’s always best to wear the size that fits, it always feels better and looks better. I may not like being a size 9 (normally I’m a 7), but I try to wear size 9. I even stay away from elastic waists. I’ve finally reached the point where I don’t care if I’m no longer a 7. At 50+, who’s looking?
Know exactly what you mean!
Congratulations 😀 I’m your height, and about your size, and can empathise…lovely to feel normal again!
Yay – I have found my twin – thank you, Kate!
Love this post – because I have done this too!
Kindred spirits!
You are very tall. Size 14 is quite a small size these days. I am quite thin so smaller than a 14 but I am not very tall.
How dare you be petite – haha!
I love that you love size 14. Glad for your relief!! 🙂
It’s a bit of a reluctant relief – oh well!
I laughed at this… that was so cute!!!
I am sorting my clothes tomorrow to get rid of size 12 – aaaah, what a relief!
Your body will be so happy, ha! A size 14 is a good size, also! :)))
So we are probably the same size but I really want your hair!
:))) Wow! My hair’s damaged… but, I’m using good stuff on it… and it’s helping. Can you tell I like ‘big’ hair, ha! Thank you. I am a little ‘bigger’ than you!
Good thinking!
You reckon? Ha!
LOL. This reminds me of my “I Hate Jeans” post, which is still a rough draft waiting to be smoothed. I may have to polish it up soon.
Breathing is good 😀
That’s a great epiphany!! 🙂
You only weigh 70? You need to eat, lady! Huh? That’s kilograms? Oh. Nevermind.
