It will soon be Spring!

on August 29, 2013

In Spring (only three days away), our Internet will work for longer than 30 minute bursts, I will resume blogging in an organised fashion, it will stop raining, Ming’s spinal problems will begin to resolve, I will get back on my bicycle, bring Anthony home more often, eradicate (humanely) the rabbit plague on this farm, learn to play the harp, continue baking sticky date pudding, grow tomatoes, sit in the sun, be a better friend to my buddies, reconcile with my in-laws (maybe), embrace the birth of my first great niece, get our finances in order, buy some laying hens to replace the ones the fox got, learn how to use the whipper snipper, prune the ancient roses, resume writing the novella, take faultless photos of the birds, dress to kill, hug anyone who is huggable, and use strawberry moisturiser.

Until then, since our telephone wiring is so dodgy, I’ve had the landline disconnected, and am mostly reliant on my Ipad for Internet. I’m not fast with this IPad yet, so have decided not to even try to keep up with blogs, Facebook etc. We are trialling a new modem thingy.

Tomorrow we see the spinal surgeon again to see what can be done to fix Ming’s injury to the titanium. Anthony wanted to come with us, so today I had to explain why this would be impossible with a 5 hour round trip. He doesn’t accept how difficult he is to lift.

To end this higgledy post, I’ve had my first harp lesson! See you in Spring.

Have you ever posted a photo of the harp you’ll be playing? That is so totally cool!

I echo good luck with that appointment for Ming.

My goodness, such a lot to look forward to, but I do hope you don’t attempt to do them all in one day – lol.

Now……sticky date pudding……I love it and it’s so many years since I had it – is it easy to make?

i’m happy to hear you planning for a positive future with your wonderful list. the joys of life will return, slowly, like your internet service. best of luck with the harp, and all of it, that is a fantastic list ) peace, beth

  8. your seasons do not follow the opposite of our seasons–fall is the 21 of September–so spring is the 1st of September there? I love spring and fall–different feelings, but I love them both.
Good luck with your list–mine is just as long but does not include playing the harp–I love the harp–good luck with Ming–nothing worse than worrying about those we love

  9. Sounds like you have your goals set out for you…. Hope you find each one attainable… Maybe that’s a good idea to do every so many months… I’ll have to think about that…? Diane

I was thinking that while you’re excited for spring, I am over the hot summer and am excited for fall. To everything there is a season.

I hope all goes well for Ming. Take care!

  11. Good luck with everything. I know how annoying and disruptive all of this can be.

Once again, this post shows what I love about you. You exude so much positive thinking and humor in spite of all the tough things in your life. I think from this post, I see you have a real SPRING in your step. Hope is blooming all around you. 🙂
Don’t waste energy with worry about Ming’s condition. You will deal with it and everything will work out – worrying never helps and is a total drain!

  16. Happy Spring! How does your internet working well coincide with Spring? Just coincidental? Prayers and warm thoughts to Ming!

  17. Spring sounds like it’s going to be a nice string of adventures, I can’t wait to hear about them. Good luck with Ming’s doctor, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for both of you. 🙂

Hi Julie. I am so very sorry to hear of all of your trials and now this injury to Ming. It is so sad to hear that he had to give up milking as I know he really loved the lifestyle. I do hope that you have some good news from the surgeon. Please wish Ming all the best. It sounds like such an old fashioned thing to say but he is such a lovely young man! Love. Lorna

Hi Lorna, I was thinking of you today when we were in the waiting room – thinking I wish I knew your address so we could drop in. So this is serendipitous! I love how that happens. Yes it has been an eventful year or so for us. Ming will be having revision surgery in a couple of months. Can you email me at juligoyder@gmail.com so I can get together with you then. I would so love to catch up. Juliex

A Sky dish would probably be a solution to your problems. They use Sky dishes on the Islands of Scotland because the hills stop TV and radio signals. Before satellite dishes people on the islands lived without TV and radio which was probably a good thing considering the drivel which is on the TV.

I expect your life is very similar to that of the islanders in Scotland. Services which are available in towns which people take for granted are not available in your area.

I also know what it’s like to have problems with modern things. Living on the Isle of Arran, off the West Coast of Scotland, when I was young, we were used to having the power and telephone being cut off as the lines were all overhead and the wind would blow them down. No TV because we could not get a signal. We just got on with it.

It does toughen you up though.

    Fingers firmly crossed.

Julie, I know I look forward to your return with open arms, and yes I am quite hubable. I will say from reading your post, SPRING clearly is the healing season down under. So much so, that it fixes the internet, amazing. Take each issue one at a time, don’t overload your now space. It will work out. Please take care, Bill

  22. janechese says:

Excuse my self-pity, but oh, how I look forward to spring! Have fun with your endeavours and good luck with the spinal adjustments.

  23. Hope tomorrow brings hope, to add to your immense beautiful positivity! ❤

  24. Finn Holding says:

Good luck with all of your springtime ambitions Julie. Especially the harp lessons – it’s an amazing instrument and everytime I see someone playing it I wonder how on earth they do it!
