A few days ago, I bumped my head rather dramatically. I’d stooped to pick up some clothes from the bathroom floor and stood up suddenly, forgetting to avoid the corner of the towel cupboard which is positioned above the sink. SMASH!
The lump on my head was massive to begin with, literally the size of a goose egg, but it has now shrunk to the size of a golf ball. When I had my hair cut the other day, my hairdresser was extremely impressed. She showed me the lump in a mirror and described the bruising around the lump in rather gruesome detail. Obviously, she had to be really careful attending to my hair.
Yesterday I must have been having one of those attention-seeking days because I kept getting the nursing staff to feel my lump. I did the same thing this morning and got the same ‘ooh-ahh!’ response from various staff which was, of course, very satisfying.
The only two people who were unfazed (and remarkably unsympathetic) were Ants and Ming.
Ming: Get over it, Mum; it’s just a bump on the head!
Anthony: You need to be careful, Jules, you’re not a spring chicken anymore.
Anyway, since bumping my head, I have been really slack with both the writing and the reading of blog posts. I have also become quite slack with cooking, cleaning, gardening, anythinging, but have also become adept at sleeping and watching netflix. Having armed myself with a fitbit a couple of weeks ago (between the asthma and the head bumping) it has been a bit discouraging to find that I have only walked about eight kilometres in as many days.
Once the lump from the bump subsides, I hope to become a more active blogger again but, in the meantime, I have a bit of a headache.
I wonder if a visit to the dr is warranted. You never know.
Ouch!
ouch! feel better –
Sorry to hear about the bump. Take care that it was not a concussion with it’s repercussions.
While I’m sorry to hear this, it’s also nice to know I’m not the only person who forgets about overhead cupboards and doors etc. The galley kitchen in my new apartment leaves a lot to be desire in the way the overhead cupboards are designed.
In the meantime, take it easy and get plenty of rest.
Ah Julie…sympathy from here. Those buggers hurt!!!
As I’m sure you already know, or have at the least, already been told…you really should have had that looked at. Sounds like a hell of a knock Jules…get better soon. And the netflix indulgence may be just the right thing to do…I’m glad you’re listening to your body….xoxo
Ouch, I hate when that happens! Really smarts. Take care and glad U R okay. ❤
Ouch! That must have hurt.
Oh, Julie! I’d never thought of you as having a “swelled head!”
I’m just so sorry to hear you’re dealing with another painful thing. Glad you are resting and don’t feel guilty about it. Sometimes, we just need to recuperate and restore ourselves. Hang in there.
Ouch! That must’ve really hurt! I almost knocked myself out by standing up under some playground equipment. I staggered and swooned and it hurt like the dickens but I didn’t end up with a giant bump like that. I think you should go ahead and pamper yourself with sleeping and watching Netflix!
sorry Julie–heal soon….
Not a good experience. You have our full sympathy but make sure you look after your recovery well and don’t start fitbitting about too soon.
I’m glad you’re taking care of yourself. ❤
Your body needs a break. Take it and don’t feel guilty. Hugs
I know how headaches and generally feeling unwell does limit the energy and motivation.. Hope you feel better soon.. Diane xx
I have one of “those” cupboard doors in my kitchen. No matter how often I remind myself not to run into it — well, you know what happens. It’s quite amazing, really, how long it can take for those bumps to go down!
Netflix is the cure for everything! Enjoy your time on the couch. I think lack of sympathy is a “guy thing” – all the guys I’ve ever known have been terrible at gushing over you if you’ve been hurt… and if they hurt themselves they expect you to do it! Hahaha big babies.
What?! No photos?
I’m reassured that the nursing staff have not raised an alarm about it.
Maybe you’ve developed temporary amnesia for anything work related:) I say hang on to it for a while and enjoy yourself!
Take good care of the bump and the rest of you attached to it!
Thankfully I have not bumped my head in years, knock on wood, well I would knock on wood if I had wood nearby to knock on but I don’t so I didn’t.
Sounds like a concussion.
I do hope you have recovered and back to your “old” self, you “spring chick” you 😉.
